Where is Martin Tyler in the FIFA commentary? Surely it's not just PC that has two announcers.

Fallout: New Vegas character build guide
I'm not sure I understand the SPECIAL recommendation for the unarmed build. I don't even bother with anything unarmed, or really even melee, so I'm sure overall the build is fine. But after so explicitly noting how important sneaking would be, how can you recommend an agility of 5? I understand critical hits are a big deal, but I can't see how a luck of 8 is optimal vs. taking 1 or 2 of those points and putting them into agility. What am I missing?

The Top 7... ways Halo influenced the games industry
Now, I know I missed basically all of gaming in the gap from the Sierra heyday on PC (kid) to SNES/N64 (college), and then again from N64 to Halo 2 (first console purchase since Atari 2600.) However, I was pretty sure Halo was the game that introduced the "Get shot? Just hide out of the way for a bit and your health and shields will recharge." game mechanic. Am I wrong there? If I'm not, that's *clearly* above everything besides #1, and I'd argue that it's had more of an impact than the MP has.

Columbia reminds me an awful lot of the people in The Twenty-One Balloons. I'm sure it's nothing more than coincidence, but the similarities, the more I think about it, are many. I hadn't thought of that book in 20 years until I saw the balloons under the buildings...

Prototype (PC): Prototype
Just to note for those unaware, there are a fuckton of problems with this game, at least major ones. Read the forums, and you'll hear woes of graphics glitches that cause you to have to window out to the desktop and then back in to reset (I had this, and finally narrowed it down to the install screwing up my already installed .NET), sound in cutscenes that slows down so that you literally can't understand anything (I have this), a not-insubstantial portion who can't even get past the first screen, etc. Worse is that Activision's response, to the official forum, is "no post-sale support". Meaning they throw up useless 'troubleshooting' pages, act like their inexplicable bugs are commonplace and that one is always having to revert to audio drivers 4 generations old or unplug their mouse, or my personal favorite of disconnecting all USB hard drives. They haven't even released a patch. Period. I enjoy this game, and I just skip the cutscenes, but Activision can eat a fat one for the way they've treated people over this.

Classic mistakes rookies always make
How about picking the biggest, most muscle-bound guy in a fighter? That character is almost always one of the hardest to play, and it's doubly so for the person new to the game. A rank newbie should go for speed, but they seemingly always pick Gralbor the 9 foot barbarian whose attacks take 45 minutes to connect.

The best and worst credits
What about Hitman: Blood Money? (Spoiler Alert for nimrods and dinguses too stupid to have previously comprehended this probability) It looks like 47 is dead, sold out by the disembodied voice chick, the cut-scene narrative wraps up right into it. I was actually getting pissed at the game for not letting me skip the credits (Escape wasn't doing anything) and banging at the keyboard for a few moments before I noticed that when I hit the spacebar, 47's heartbeat was starting back up. Capital bonus, I thought.

Are we ever going to get a second part to the Sierra/LucasArts debate? I'm just anxious to see if you guys get it right. :)

Not to dogpile, and it's a mark of how consistently I enjoy the articles here that this is the first one I'm doing this for, but: Bleh. Puns are bad enough, these are bad (and in some cases, inexplicable) ones. No Big Profit? That's supposed to be funny? And there's an agreement that we as a society have come to: If you're going to make people look at pictures of feces to serve a joke, that joke has to be funny. Doing so in service of a joke that a third grader would think is dumb and the folks at Laffy Taffy would reject as "too juvenile" violates the social contract.
