very interesting though, a really good read is "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks. cleverly written to be an awesome satire on survival techniques. i cant wait to see what part II has in store (and maybe even a part III! :D )

Early games were still phenomenal because it was something brand new. Have you ever heard of a minimalist saying "less is more"? That is the case with early nintendo games. I do find it rather funny that you are butt hurt that I personally do not like the story of the Gears series, or the repetitive nature of it's bland design.

Also, who are you to tell me I am playing a game for the wrong reason? That would be like me telling you that you like Obama for the wrong reasons.

@ParagonT, i prefer to call it a stair-master. close to top of the line for a few years, then slowly go down as better processors and GPUs are created every single day.

@GhostNappa2k10 I completely agree with you, i own Arkham City on PC, you know you can use a Xbox 360 controller for it as well, right? Regarding the story aspect of games, that is why i play them. I do not care weather or not the graphics are as close to realistic as they can possibly get with the current tech we have, i care more about story. Take The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time for example, I still play that game. Why? Because the story is one of the best I have ever experienced. The same can be said for Bioshock (the original). I have both a PC and an Xbox 360 (regarding current gen consoles). And to be honest, I personally prefer playing with adults instead of children who are immature.

i would argue that Fable: The Lost Chapters is one of the best RPG's ever made. Then after that, the Fable series sucked.

If you go the warrior path (just like with any other game that has a warrior, specifically i can remember Mass Effect soldier being WAY more powerful than any of the other classes) your going to win. No matter how much a company balances the warrior, they are always going to have the highest attack and defense, so it will be easier to win. I usually go for sneak in Bethesda games, because it is more of a challenge than just "hurp a durrr, i swing hamma!"

if you are going to be closed minded enough to not try other systems built into the game (like magic and bows) then why are you even complaining about the one system you did try and got bored of after hours of playing?

I am very glad that others agree with me on the Modern Warfare 3 thing. after i noticed there was a CoD game every single year coming out (did not matter the company) it really made me mad. I LOVED Call of Duty 4 as much as i LOVED call of Duty 2. It was innovative, and epic. I personally have sunk 17 days of game time into cod 4 (and that was before waw came out). The milking of the CoD franchise caused me to be a Battlefield fan, and i personally prefer not having to deal with little kids that think they are the best thing since sliced bread.

I am also glad to see Gears of War 3 on here! although i enjoyed the first one, Gears 2 upset me because even though they slightly expanded on the story, it was still lame as hell. I personally play games for story, and when there are things that are not plausible (even in the realm of gaming), I can only think that the writer just pushed something out the door and didn't give a f*ck. The repetitive nature of the level design, and character models also seemed very rushed. i remember specifically, going through barbed wire at least 3 times, with the characters going through in the same order, in the same fashion. YOU HAVE A F*CKING CHAINSAW ON YOUR GUN! DO SOMETHING WITH IT LIKE A MAN!

The reason Valve and Blizzard have games that always score at least a 9 (in valves case its usually a 10) is because they are not rushing a damn thing to push sh*t (literally) out the door in hopes of earning some quick cash to then make more sh*t and push that out the door (think guitar hero)
