This could very well all be true and it got me thinking about something. Have we actually seen the real locusts? Consider the descriptions of the various locusts in the char selection for multiplayer, the basic locust is described as being bred specifically for combat, and the sniper is described as being trained from birth. Add this to that fact that assuming all the various creatures we see are from the same basic species and we have a race that is uncharacteristically brutal toward its own kind.

Couldn't it just be possible that the entire various creature we have seen so far from RAAM on down are really just a genetically engineered fighting force fro something else that's living down there in the depths? And as far as the intelligent and civilized thing I'm not so sure I mean consider the berserkers, and the fact that it appears that the entirety of the locust race is fighting the humans, maybe just maybe the real controlling entities are something very different and the locust are simply tools too them.

I mean look just look at the description of them on the gears site "Drones are natural followers" that doesn't seem like the building blocks for a flourishing civilization. Also consider that the Kantus have a very different facial and body structure from all of the humanoid locust we have seen so far.. Humanity in the Gears universe may be nasty, but the forces behind the locust and the war against humanity might just be even worse.
