The biggest Sonic fan on the site (maybe in the world) gave this an 8/10. Maybe I'm just getting too used to the '9/10=average' review score mentality of our time, but this has deflated me. I was looking really, really forward to replaying the Sonic VS Shadow boss fight/race at the end of SA2 with boosting too.

I think I understand what you mean about there being two different games on show here, I've been playing Green Hill Zone with both Sonics non-stop since the demo came out on PSN, and the game feels incredible when you're hitting every shortcut and shaving off another second with each run. I really hope I come to enjoy all the padding and end up seeing the game differently to you and rate it more, but you're the only reviewer here I've ever fully agreed with each time so far so I feel a little let down.

If I didn't already own the game on seven different platforms I'd be quite happy about that, but as is, it's just icing on the cake. A delicious cake that has had a lot of love and care put into it, fit to serve a king who is ready to reclaim his throne.

If it plays like MW2, but with crazy gadgets and weapons, the multiplayer might just be better than whatever MW3 has to offer. That's nothing to get excited about of course but it still might be cool.

The new Mario game and Mario Kart 7 are going to make me glad I bought a 3DS. If Sonic Generations is the mix of Megadrive era and Rush that I hope it is, then I'm getting that too.

Hihi to anyone who reads this. I'm a pretty balanced gamer, I can enjoy a wide range of games from Super Mario World in the SNES to Kingdom Hearts on the Playstation 2. If I had to pick a favourite genre of games I think it would have to be Action RPG. I believe Sonic will make a come back :O
