I dunno if you know/care about this, but that Mickey Mania game? I TOTALLY HAD THAT AS A KID. But here in the UK, it was called Mickey's Wild Adventure, and I had it on the PS1... I might have it buried somewhere, actually. But yeah. That game rocked. Jaffe is actually more awesome than a bullet-dodging Johnny Cage.
Thank god you put in The Immortals... I would have torn a hole in the internet to stick in there if you hadn't. I think I've hit a pinnacle in nerdiness in that I'd totally put The Immortals on were I a club DJ. It's dance music, they shouldn't complain.
Oh man. I need to play some more L4D sometime... I need people good enough to run through the Expert levels with. Thanks, article, for GETTING ME HOOKED ON THAT DAMN GAME AGAIN. >.<
Erm... I think that Persona for PSP actually looks pretty kickass. Remember, it's a remake of a PS1 game, so you can't expect it to look as shiny as diamonds.
After getting 8 pages into the comments (who thought I'd be saying THAT phrase at 5:50 in the morning...) I gave up. While there is NO chance in hell I am going to get entangled in this web of defication that is the "fanboy war" (or what I call kiddy-present-justification syndrome. KPJS for short), I think that while this review is different from others I've read, that makes it no less valid. If anything, it promotes a higher quality of game publication, since it allows the makers to go: "Hmm. I guess we didn't get it all right. Y'know what? We'll make a better quality product, and get those high schores next time!".
Frankly, it just annoys me at how all the people here arguing against the review are just vying for attention (yes, "vying" is a word, stop asking...). Actually. No. Stop. I'm not doing that.
As a 360 owner, no, I don't know if the game is good or not. But, don't forget, we DID have our own superpowered sandbox game. Crackdown. And while I, myself, would not have rated it "OMG PERFECT" game-wise, fun-wise, it was a good hit. And yes, there IS a difference. A BIG one.
Mr Reparaz. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the work that you do, and the job that you have. Let's face it, most of the nay-sayers here barely have time to articulate their thoughts. You're lucky it's not just coming out as "ugg ugg ugga ug". Reading your review, I see a lot of good points, and it all comes down to trust when it comes down to a review. Do you trust the reviewer's opinion? Just because you've heard their name before, DOESN'T make them trustworthy. If anything, Mr Reparaz is more trustworthy than anyone, since his opposition toward people of your nature is so fierce, that it only strengthens his resolve to never cave in to your pressure, and give the scores he feels worthy for the game.
Though, I'll admit... Tree's comment that it's the consoles that ave made us "junkies arguing about some rating on a videogame site" made me chuckle a little... Unfortunately, after looking at their profile, it was not ironic... Oh, how the humour is gone... No. I did not spell "humour" incorrectly. I'm English. Just... Wanted not to give anyone any ammo against me. No matter how retarded it may be.
I could not be happier that someone else noticed the Rick Astley comparison with Chrono Trigger. When I first heard that, I thought someone had hacked the catridge, and decided to Rick Roll my ass whilst I was on the can playing that level. Scandalous. And yet, tasteful.
I know these are actually pretty hard (I mean, the GTA one had me wondering for a few minutes...) I've not usually had much of a gut-wrenching feeling for the others. For BioShock, I just thought "well, I'll just be evil, and get more Adam. Easy!" And as for Fallout, I thought I'd just take the role of the anti-hero. So I shot the guy in the suit. =D
Hot damn... I totally forgot about Simpsons Skateboarding. That really did suck, I remember thinking that, even at the age where you think every game you see is the shit. That was just shit...
I feel ashamed at my lack of knowledge on old-school games.
Or ever.
No mods, and loads of people with the game = COMPLETE chaos.
Not to mention Two Worlds is a complete abortion of an Oblivion clone... *shudder*
