@deathrebellion - We'll put up instructions soon on how to get on the list. We're still working out the best way to get the maximum number of readers a turn to feel our skillz/kick our teeth in.
Thanks for your interest everyone! It's going to be fun.
Just a quick note: I'm always curious when someone signs up for an account just to disagree with something in one of our reviews.
Why? Because you might be amazed to learn how frequently that new user turns out to be someone from the developer or publisher of that game. It's uncanny. And one of the best ways to identify them is to watch them to see if they comment on anything else at all. You know - other stories, other reviews, maybe even previews, screenshots... anything. People from a publisher or developer usually don't. They say one thing and then vanish.
I hope you stick around and make more comments, IknowDS. We have lots of DS reviews. Surely this isn't the only one you've read that's worth talking about?
Damn! I can't say I've seen it, but I thought at least a few people would want this flick. I mean, there are people out there who LOVE the modern Transformers movies, right?
This movie must really be a pile. I feel like I should apologize for threatening to send it to you. Sorry, loyal readers. Didn't mean to scare you.
Man, I feel all you guys who are suggesting additional games. We actually considered The Simpsons and Centipede and TMNT, along with about a zillion others like Tempest, Defender, Berzerk, Star Castle (just because it was the first arcade game I actually kinda rocked at) and a ton of others. Ultimately though,we had to narrow it down, so we went with those that had the best gameplay and longest-lasting impact.
Hmmm. You right, these are mostly positive. But I think that's more a sign that we're picking solid games to review, rather than a sign we're being too lenient.
Tell you what: I wasn't planning a fourth installment, but if you want to list off suggestions of games you want to see reviewed, maybe we can squeeze a few more out and either add them to this article or do a day 4. Fair enough?
If you're getting the error, refresh the page every five or ten minutes - the conversation should appear below the live window, and we'll be updating on the fly by hand.
Just a quick message to everyone who's getting that "full capacity" error - we're really sorry about that. It's not within our control. But we'll post the text manually as soon as we can.
Anyhow, I also thought I'd pre-empt a possible point of contention: No, technically, we don't see it fly here. We just see the wings. But traditionally, wings mean flight, so we're giving it the benefit of the doubt. Don't sue us if the critter turns out to be part emu.
Late to the party, but here are my two cents. I was furious when they announced a sequel - like David, I said simply, "The story is done and it was phenomenal. Any attempt to extend it will break it." And I still stand by that statement.
However, when I attended the live demo of the game, it took exactly 30 seconds for me to get all worked up and eager to get my hands on the game.
Yes, the story elements are contrived. No, it won't be as good as the original. It simply can't be. Yes, the second game tarnishes the first a bit by its sheer existence. And yes, the RE4 to RE5 comparison is probably dead on. But I'll play it anyway. I just can't stay away.
I loved Mass Effect and Oblivion so much. I pretty much love all RPGs, but those two hooked me good.
I know a guy who actually liked Blitzball. And I have to admit I trust his judgment less because of this knowledge.
Oh - "grinding" essentially refers to times when you can't go any deeper into the story until you level up some more. So you find yourself wandering around the forest killing random animals until you get powerful enough to beat the next story-critical dungeon. Yes, I'm oversimplifying - you're not always in a forest and there are some games built entirely around grinding (Chocobo's Dungeon and the Etrian Odyssey games, for example) but that's the basic definition.
super-saint, you may be thinking of a 6 on our scale as the same as a 60 in school, which is usually a D. It's not. If you look at our review scale, 6 means "Decent". So, just short of "Good", which would be a 7, but better than "So-So" at 5. That sounds "fairly adequate" to me.
As for why it didn't score more highly, it's just too redundant and the enemies aren't clever enough. So that's what's "askew". Sorry if that wasn't more clear.
We've been liking it. I'm concerned the novelty might not last the entire game, but the cool visual style and the fact that the violence and commentary are SO over the top they're funny has it staying fresh so far.
I kid you not, this is the kind of stuff Chris dreams up all damn day. He probably needs medication, but it's too much fun the way he is for us to change anything.
On another note, the reCaptcha code I just had to type in for this comment was "women position". Just sayin'.
Also if you can't view the larger versions of the images, it's probably due to Internet Explorer. Try using Firefox. Still, it should work in IE so we'll try to sort it out.
@MadMarcus: I already answered that on the first page of the comments, but it should be in the mines (accessible from the north side of Monteriggioni's outer walls) after you renovate them.
@bullard: The only thing I can suggest is that you look over the screenshots, and if you see any locations that look unfamiliar, go and investigate them.
@Timgamer777: Check the maps again - there are 20 glyphs, listed and marked, with location descriptions and screenshots for each. (I double-checked after seeing your comment, and everything's there.) That's 5 in Florence, 1 in Monteriggioni, 5 in Tuscany/San Gimignano, 2 in Romagna/Forli and 7 in Venice. There aren't any glyphs in the mountains, so I hope you're not hunting for them there.
@Cogglesz - it's definitely not a clone of OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast - they're completely different to play. But even it was, that would be no bad thing
:) I want me some OutRun 3...
We're aware of the PC, but this is a console-specific article. Yes, some of these also are on PC, but from the perspective of a console, they are exclusive.
Thanks for your interest everyone! It's going to be fun.
