Unfortunately not. It has to be built in to the software, and that's seems to be only with 3DS software created after the reveal of the Circle Pad Pro. No older 3DS games have been updated with it, let alone any DS titles.

Let me be clear that I in no way think the 3DS is a failure or a poorly designed system. I had dozens hours of fun with the portable before slapping on the CPP. Should the 3DS have launched with two sticks? Maybe so. But in the here and now, the CPP is a good, easy fix to the needs of current controls.

The 3D wasn't spectacular to me, but it was as good as I expected. If you want to get the most out of it, keep the shooting in first person, though it still looks good in third person too.

I'll have a small feature tomorrow about whether the Circle Pad is worth buying overall. I will say right now that once I started using the Pad Pro I got for free, I didn't want to go back to playing without.

Hey friendly readers, don't be discouraged that no RPGs are on here. The list was designed to only include the original versions of core Mario platformers. Had spin-offs been included the list would have probably been four times as long. Perhaps some day we'll do a list like this for the RPGs and other Mario side games.

But I hope you all know I have much love for the Mario RPGs, Paper Mario in particular. I even wrote a pretty comprehensive history on them a couple years ago.
