Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked (3DS): Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked release date revealed via trailer |
|

That trailer did NOT really make the game look impressive. The voicework seemed mediocre, and the graphics are, like, identical! Could've at least given it some kind of a facelift, rather than just raise resolution. With that said, god damnit did I love this game on the DS, and god damnit if I didn't finish it on the DS. I still have my DS and still have the game, but it may just happen that I put it off 'til the day I find myself having a 3DS and the chance to buy this game and I'll decide, "Hell, I'll just get the "superior" version!" |

I agree with my brother, to whom I read this out loud - something like this pushes me over to the side of Modern Warfare 3, rather than Battlefield 3. This is something that'd make me bad for preferring BF3 over MW3. It's just embarrassing. |

8 hated box art cliches |
|

Hah, I hate articles that rag on cover art having some arbitrary similarities, when there's only so much varying art you can do. Let's examine this. So, what you're trying to say, Cheryll Del Rosario, is that if a game's box cover has a picture where there's either a single character looking away from the camera, one not standing with their whole body directly facing the "camera", holding any sort of weapon (and when looking at the Hunted: Demon's Forge cover, in pretty much any position relative to the camera too), two characters from two different oppositions standing in front of eachother (and conflict is a preeeetty big part of an interesting story), giant heads floating, a logo that, judging by half of the examples, isn't so tiny that it can't possibly be read even by someone with 20-20 vision, only one eye showing, any character looking either very happy/content, or one screaming something, or beign surprised (or jesus, fuck, opening your mouth comes along with pretty much any stronger variant of an emotion), and since you mentioned "Setting? Environment? Enemies? What's that?" on the JRPG character collage, and juxtaposing that with the backgrounds that show off the setting and environment (at least to some degree), then I take it having multiple characters on a cover is cliche now too. And using ANY of those is cliche. I'm really curious of what the fuck is left, then? A character who's directly facing the camera, directly looking into it, not holding anything, a tiny logo hidden in a corner somewhere, with a completely stoic expression, both eyes visible, no giant heads, oh, god forbid the character's face is close to the camera, and only that character. ONLY that character. Oh, and don't put an image of the setting and/or environment behind the character. Because that apparently shows that the cover art doesn't show off the environment or the setting. ...sounds like a nightmare. |

Am I really the only one who has a problem with their saying it's the "best-selling game of all time", when WikiPedia clearly tells me that Super Mario Bros. on the NES sold about 40 million copies, SMB. 3 sold 18 million, Super Mario World 20 million, and Wii Sports 75 million (even if it WAS packaged with the Wii), and the game, mentioned in the article - Wii Play - is pegged at 27 million. Tetris on the Game Boy is 35 million, Pokémon Red and Blue 23 million (so 11.5 million separately, though they're, like, y'know), New Super Mario Bros. on the DS 26 million, Brain Age 18 million, Mario Kart DS 17 million. The Sims with 16 million and TETRIS AND ANGRY BIRDS ON PHONES 100 AND 50 MILLION RESPECTIVELY WOOOOOOOO! Okay, I'm sounding kind of like a confrontational asshole now. But the "At last count, Call of Duty: Black Ops is reported to have sold 13.7 million copies stateside in the four months since its November release" made me think that...did the author of the article mean fastest-selling, rather than best? |
