You know, I considered throwing Ninja Gaiden 3 into the mix, but I'm not yet convinced its gore is going to be satisfying. Great suggestion, though. So is Darkness 2. It came close.

@Asmodean - you mean the big picture? That's actually FF XIII-2. It's a new character. And the little pic in thumbnail view is also from XIII-2, though it is abnormally brownish for that game.

Uncharted 3 is another that was on the list, just a tad further down.

Not sure how one can possibly call Lady Gaga unoriginal. Fine if you don't love her music, but when you take the tunes, the costumes, the videos, and all her onstage theatricality into consideration, calling her anything less than unique is just delusional.

I'm a little surprised to hear you say you disliked the battle system. Most of us here thought it was the game's strongest feature outside of the graphics.

Me? I'm just glad the maps have opened up. Except for the one giant plain, you were always running through a tube - sure, it sometimes looked like a street, or a canyon, or a crystallized lake - but it was always still a tube. And that drove me nuts. This one is already better, though I do agree that it's not necessarily going to bring in more fans. I think it's more giving the existing fans what they want.

Battlefield 3 was on the list for awhile, but it was around number 7 or 8, so it didn't quite make the cutoff. It IS a looker, though. no doubt about it!

I think you'll be happy. Gunplay looks to be definitely improved, at least. I couldn't really tell about stealth just yet.

My biggest concern is actually that I'll get tired of just juicing bugs. I loved the way 2017 went from ants to robots to godzilla-alike to UFOs and back to ants... that kind of thing

Just to clarify: Nowhere in this article does it say Crash Team Racing is BAD. We're saying the fourth game in each previous Naughty Dog series has been a racing title, and an Uncharted-themed racing game would be bad.

Have you read our very excellent Skyrim preview, which is linked to in the entry. I don't recall who wrote it, but that guy was a genius.

@idlemindkiller - I don't know what I find more amazing - that analfire showed up at all, or that it's written as just one word.
8 months, 4 weeks ago E3 2011: BioShock Infinite preview - Big Daddy is nothing compared to the Songbird
@hllywd212 - I understand your point, but my initial impression is that both sides in this case are highly exaggerated, to the point that neither extreme seems tenable or favored. The workers (Vox) are completely savage and anarchist, so they're definitely not portrayed as the good guys. Nor are the ultra-nationalists they fight against. I'm not convinced either philosophy will be presented as fundamentally right or wrong.

@papergoon - You'll probably love her in the game. She does seem a bit wide-eyed and naive - Ken explained this is because she's spent most of her life locked away with only the Songbird as company - and she's obviously busting out of her corset. But she's so earnest and sincere that I bet you'll find her endearing anyhow.

The intriguing thing is that I can't yet tell if she and Booker have a father/daughter relationship or a more romantic (ie - potentially creepy because he seems far older than her) one.

@Conservative Gamer - it's got nothing to do with being liberal or conservative (in fact, GR has writers all over the globe, many of whom don't give a crap about US politics).

The fact is, we're all gamers first and Fox News does a lot of slanted, inaccurate coverage that casts the industry I love in a negative light. I will not tolerate that. If they fight fair and have honest, open discussions? Sure, let's talk. But if they lie and exaggerate and mislead, as this story does? Then it's our duty to call their bluff, even if it's my own mother up there talking to Glen Beck or whomever.

Another great videogame book is Steven Kent's "The Ultimate History of Video Games". It's very old school - barely gets to the PlayStation at all - but there's good stuff in there.

Wow - just looked at that Cracked article. The similarities are a coincidence because we didn't know the Cracked piece existed until just now, but they're there all right.

I'm going to choose to view this as a sign that we got it right, because Cracked writes some very funny stuff. That article on terrifying foods might be my favorite article in the history of the internet.

I have what is perhaps a more fundamental question: Who sits in a chair and does NOTHING for an hour? Other than a Buddhist monk, I mean.

I would suggest doing anything for an hour - and I mean anything, from licking stamps to digging graves - is going to generate more of an appetite than sitting and doing nothing. It doesn't matter what the activity is. Unless the thing you've been doing for an hour is eating, you're going to be hungry when you're done.
10 months ago Crash Bandicoot in CryEngine 2 looks cool. Kinda...
drunkunicron is correct, more or less. The Crash rights were owned by Universal, which morphed into Vivendi, which merged with Activision. Which is why the iPhone version of Crash Nitro Kart 2 is published by Activision. So neither Sony nor Naughty Dog are able to revisit the character. Activision could, though.
