Agreed. If you don't understand why dedicated servers are a big deal then you have never had a real multiplayer gaming experience. But it is understandable, these are the same people who think that you can play a shooter with a gamepad. What a joke.

Why PC Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer makes us sad
Thank you gradar. I knew if any game site had the balls to broach this subject it would be you.
1. Modern Warfare 1 wasn't anything amazing. It was a solid fps that sold well and had a strong mulitplayer community.
2. Besides some new single player missions, MW2 offers no substantial incentives or improvements over the first game. More importantly, it lacks everything that made the first game successful and worth playing on the PC.
3. The CEO of Activision Bobby Kotick is a bloodsucking scumbag, who represents everything that is soulless and wrong with the corporate world.
4. Raising the average price of PC games to $60 (US), isn't necessarily a bad thing. Especially taking into account inflation and the rising cost of producing AAA games. But for the reasons I just listed, my first $60 game purchase sure as shit won't be MW2.

PS: Console gamers, I appreciate that we have something in common in that we both enjoy video games. However, in this case, you are out of your element, please refrain from commenting.

I'm going to publish an essay about how MMOs should be designed. The first sentence goes like this:

If one removed all the RPG/Loot/Character-leveling elements from the game in question, would it still be fun to play?

I'm playing the demo, it's pretty addictive. I found a way to keep playing after you "finish" the level, and a way to build any building, even the ones not available in the demo (although some don't have textures). I'll probably get it when it comes out on STEAM.

Champions Online (PC): Champions Online
I played the beta of this game for a month.
The best thing -- THE BEST THING -- about the game is the character creation. It is awesome really. But I found that after I made a character and got my flight(travel) ability and played with my powers for a bit that it was all downhill. It is just another MMO, and the pvp is lame. I really think that this game could have been great if it was a coop action/rpg instead of an MMO, all that character creation fun is going to waste on boring MMO grinding.

Believe it or not I was really looking forward to this game after playing the demo.
It upsets me to hear that the combat doesn't get difficult enough to require a strategic approach (maybe there is a hard mode?), and that it has QTEs. Still, I will probably buy it because it is only $30 and it is on STEAM. Also, the demo had a nicely polished feel that didn't reek of a console port, that is always a plus(sadly).
What's more, maybe if IO makes enough on this they will make a new Hitman game! Hope...

Sega 32x.
For some reason I really wanted to play Doom on my Sega (even though I had DoomII on my Mac PowerPC with 32mb of Ram). The thing was not really in stores, I had to get one used, it was a lengthy and troublesome ordeal. When I finally tried playing it the graphics and framerate were horrible. It sucked. Luckily N64 and PS1 came out not too long after.

I don't know what part of the game you guys played, but I played the demo, which felt like an early level, and it seemed like the combat could easily get difficult enough to require alternate tactics later in the game.
I downloaded the demo as a lark, its not really my kind of game, but I really like it. I'll definitely buy it on STEAM when it comes out.

I just remembered something else:
When RTCW came out it was pretty widely criticized for "having zombies" and not be a "realistic" WW2 shooter.
Yes. There was actually a time when THERE WEREN'T ENOUGH WW2 FPSes. I remember it well, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault came out around then and my time was divided up evenly between the two.
I just think it is ironic that today we are welcoming a "twist" on the WW2 theme.

I, for one, am NOT tired of ww2 shooters (as long as they are good). I actually really miss RTCW's multiplayer, it was very good. So if the multiplayer on this one is "the same" but better graphics, that actually sounds awesome to me.
But...I really hope this game comes to STEAM, otherwise I won't be buying it.

This game is pretty fun. Anyone debating whether or not to give it a try (it's free) should do it. It takes <15 min. to get into a game (if you aren't picky about naming/customizing your guy).
I agree with the reviewer though, it takes a little while to warm up to. I'd say get to at least level 5 before deciding and try all the classes. Also, there are "missions" to be completed that reward you with XP and valor points, which are pretty fun to try.
I find the vehicles (even the planes) handle quite adequately if you set up you controls properly.
It is definitely fun and definitely worth a try.

Agreed. I was very impressed by the production quality and the game mechanics of the demo. I don't understand why they wouldn't take the time to include online/Lan co-op either. Technically, it is not that difficult to set up, and it isn't like they would have to host servers.

I bought this game as soon as it was available on STEAM and I was not disappointed. It would have been worth $5 of the $10 price just to have a working copy of the original game on STEAM. The new art and the voice-acting are perfect (although guybrush's head/hair does look a little weird). I didn't have any issues with the new interface (I found the hotkeys easy to memorize so I used them) other than some occasional difficulty using two inventory (hotkey i) items together.
I highly recommend this game to anyone who feels at all nostalgic about the original or to anyone who never got the chance to play it.
After not playing the game for 15 years or more it was very interesting to see what I remembered and what I had forgotten. I finished it in about 8 hours.
Also, I really hope this game sells well to warrant them giving the same treatment to Monkey Island 2, which is an even greater game.
