This post is in response to the Tony Hawk signed skateboard. We were asked for our favorite tony hawk moment or memory of him.
When I started skating in 87 my very first pro model was the Tony Hawk bird skull from Powell Peralta. Back in those days there were very few skate companies that had really good team riders and Powell had some of the best. As a kid we would go to the local skate shop and rent any P&P video that came out. Vert skating wasn't something I was good at but Tony Hawk was always progressing and making up tricks on vert.
During the early console generations there were skateboarding games but they were always complete and utter ass. I remember the first time I saw THPS on the Dreamcast and I remember thinking that this is what skateboarding should be like on a console. Unfortunately they ran the game into the ground through later iterations.
I had skated for over 15 years until I was seriously injured while in the military and had to have back surgery. After the surgery it was found out that I had severe nerve damage in my left leg(which for me was the leg I used to control all my flip tricks) and ever since I haven't been able to really get back in skateboarding. It's been hard to adjust to something you spent half your life doing but I still always check out the magazines when I'm at the store or watch videos when the leak online.
I don't think TH Ride is going to progress skateboarding on consoles. In my opinion Activision should've ripped off Skate and went with the realistic controls instead of putting you on a fake skateboard. It will work for the people that do skate but I feel that's about the only people that will care.
I hope this long winded story gets me the signed Tony Hawk board. It will good on my wall.
Thanks T-Dar crew. Can't wait for this Friday's podcast.
I wish I had a 360 copy but I'm at least happy that Gamefly sent me a copy for the PS3. I look forward to playing with Wikiparez on Friday. I wish they would play a little earlier in the day though.
Anyone looking to add a friend to your PSN id mine is phishhead. See you all online.
IW has added quite a lot. Our clan was always great at holding choke points. I'm sure over time strategies will be developed and run into the ground.
Can't wait till November and I'm glad they patched the mod controller. That was one of the worst parts about COD4
How do you beat Sandman? He isn't even listed here as a boss. I must be missing something here cause I can't figure out how to get past him. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm in. GT: belowradar. I'd love to play some L4D. Been too busy with my newborn to play any online games.
This what I love about this site. The guys are so community friendly. You don't see that with a lot of sights.
I think you guys were really stretching it with this article. A few of the games I could see helping change the way games are developed but there quite a few that I had no idea why they're even on the list.
But you guys get paid the big bucks to make up stuff we all come to read. Just my opinion.
Is Christopher not in the podcast this week? That has to be a first. He must be hanging out with his hippie friends on Haight street smokin the dank and forgot all about TR.
MIkel and GamesRadar in general like to give us the readers something other sites don't, a different take on gaming in general. They like to give shit to the developers on all 3 consoles. I've come to expect these things from this site and that's why this is the main gaming site I check for reviews and game news. Sure it might be full or potty humor but quit taking yourself so seriously.
If you don't like the reviews or articles then go visit other sites. Gaming sites are a dime a dozen these days and everyone has an opinion on them, so I'm sure you're bound to find a site that appeals to your likes and dislikes.
It's ok to debate the subject and give your opinion but at this point in the game we should all know what to expect from GR.
I say the fact that I played inFamous 2x's thru (once evil/once good) and I didn't get a god damn key for buying the game. I deserve, NO I demand a beta key.
Do we really another Kane/Lynch game. I think not. I can't believe we're getting another Army of Two Douchebags game. What, wasn't one fist pumping, homoerotic game enough for one generation we need another.
This time we get to see how big of tools they actually look like. Maybe they'll have a mini game called "Dick Jenga".
Has anyone seen or had any hands on with Bioshock or is it even on the showroom floor? G4, Giant Bombcast both haven't mentioned anything about it and I'd like to know if their gonna show any multiplayer.
Oh well. Get some rest guys cause the last podcast you guys sounded like you were coming down from a cocaine induced high.
After watching all the press conferences I think Ubisoft's had to the most boring shit I've had the misfortune to have to sit through.
I can't believe they had their own event. WTF E3!
Nintendo seemed to have more for the core audience this time around but still some silly shit was shown like a freakin pulse reader. Dear God.
MAG looked kinda cool but it was funny that the main guy running the squad never really got shot and kept avoiding the enemies. Seemed to me it was kinda scripted just to show the game running. Don't get me wrong I think the idea is cool I just want to hear more from journalists who get to have hands on with it. Hopefully Sony will have a beta running soon but I hope it's not attached to a Q(whore) subscription.
Can't wait for a podcast to hear what Elston thought of Nintendo and what Antista thought of their not being any innovation.
Chris you actually liked all that time dedicated to the Beatles Rock Band? I dug the trippy shit too, it reminded me of trippin balls at Grateful Dead shows and watching the screens during Drums/Space.
I thought the part was way too long but I'm not much of a Beatle's fan.
The XBL game Cliffy B's demoed glitched at the end didn't? Did anyone else notice that after the guy appearantly killed the robot he was standing on top of it had it actually been there. They paused the game and ended it there and just walked off.
Wish Infinity Ward had had more time to show off MW2. Maybe had the cut out 3 minutes of climbing a snowy mountain they might have.
Oh well. Have fun guys and can't wait to be disappointed by Nintendo tomorrow.
