Derivative games that were actually kind of great
Diagree wholeheartedly on the Dante's Inferno bit, I was very dissapointed with that game. The game had Hell Itself as the setting, yet after the first few circles the sense of torture, terror, and horror had completely dissapeared, replaced by the same bland corridors we've come to expect from mediocre hack and slahers. The epic boss battles stopped showing up as frequently, and the game's lagging final act made me feel that the game was comparable to a small dog missing a leg. It wasn't all that strong to begin with, and its last hind leg is completely missing. Non-metaphorically and what not: Was just mediocre at the beginning, and was missing a good last few levels entirely.

Halo: Reach - How are you finding it?
I'm enjoying the multiplayer and creativity in forge to endless degrees. Being able to browse the most popular fileshares gives me an endless supply of content to fuel my halo craze. Unfortunately, I didn't like the campaign. It shined in a few moments when it graduated beyond just, "Kill this, move forward", but too much of it was just that; kill this, move forward. I wanted to see more moments like the space battles, or the bit in which you shoot at grunts from a flying plane. Moments like those, which are found much more frequently in just about every other shooter in the genre, should probably be seen more in Halo's campaign. The campaign was a very tame experience compared to other shooters.

This is stupid. Cooperative mode was the only reason I was going to buy this, and I already had a line of friends that were going to play through the campaign in co-op with me. I won't be buying this game now, considering the prime reason I was going to buy it (to be able to enjoy a nice campaign with all of my friends in other states) is now completely ruined for the next month. As to the, "Stop your bitching!" people, no. We care more about online play than you do, fine. Don't assume that because you don't enjoy online play as much, or don't value it as the selling point of this product means that none of us do. For some of us, online play is the only reason we WOULD purchase this game.

Why Alan Wake's DLC is a brilliant download but a dangerous precedent
Here's my personal opinion on the matter: A game should be complete and be excellent and not lacking anything upon its own at release. I shouldn't feel unfulfilled upon finishing it. A DLC should add a completely new slice of gameplay onto my plate, reinvigorating my interest in the game. The DLC should not be a part of the main game, but an expansion. For example, I thought that Alan wake should have had an unambiguous ending and tie up the plot perfectly (IF the developers did not intend on a sequel.) the DLC should tell a different tale with perhaps the same characters or the same environment, but in very few ways relate to the main tale. My example of a good DLC for Alan wake would be a DLC that tells an envtirely different mystery with the same mechanics of the game. It doesn't reveal more about the story or expand upon what was already finished, but instead tell its own tale, however brief.

Go to the title screen of the game. You see the scene in which you find your sister at the end of the game, but there are two figures on the ground. Obviously, you and your dead sister. Above the two figures, is a car. This leads me to beleive that the bit where you shatter through the window at the end might have represented shattering through a windshield, maybe. We can at least make a safe assumption that they are both dead based on the two corspes.

6 games guaranteed to get you through a hangover
@Tomsta666 The main reason many people didn't like it was because of how it was structured. You just platform along, collecting orbs, then reach the grounds and heal it, then fight a boss. The levels weren't really unique or different, and the formula just repeated itself. Rather than fighting new bosses you were confined to the same four throughout the game. There were really no climactic moments, just kind of lazily platforming along. The handful of enemies never changed, and the plot wasn't really excellent, either. These are just my personal opinions, but they are shared by many.

Don't forget the first borderland's DLC.. I was very dissapointed that none of the iconic bandits of the game came into the zombie lands at all.. I bought both left 4 dead games, dead rising (and soon dead rising 2), and even the bikini samurai squad game. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the monotonous zombie combat, because I like killing mindless foes. I don't know why.

Silent Hill: Homecoming (Xbox 360): Silent Hill: Homecoming
I liked this game quite a bit, mainly because it actually scared me. With Dead Space, I played through the game in the middle of the night with all of the lights turned off, but it still failed to frighten me. Then I rented Silent Hill, and had the living padooples (I completely just made up that word)scared out of me. The settings for the game are much eerier than Dead Space's (stereotypical, alien-invaded space ship, or stereotypical freakish and twisted demonic hospital?) I also found that the mystery clouding what is going on in the otherworld kept me gripped and frightened. In Dead Space, I always felt like I knew what was going on. There were evil neccromorphs on the ship, I have to get them off. I already know what they are and where I am. But in Silent Hill, I was constantly wondering what was going on. (Spoilers) Why was the doctor cutting himself? Why in the hell was mayor Bartlett with that freakish heart-thingy? What in the HELL was up with that twisted hospital from the chapter, "Hell Descent"??? The music was incredible in Silent Hill, and it truly frightened me as well. The lack of trustable characters made it slightly disturbing as well (You were constantly talking to characters in Dead Space, so it didn't have the disturbing feeling of isolation. Sure, you were betrayed by one crew member at one point, and one of those people (MAJOR SPOILERS) didn't really exist, but at least they were still allies for most of the game.) It is obvious that Dead Space is (In the opinions of many) an incredible game, and much better than Silent Hill: Homecoming (Again, total opinions, please don't rant at me fanboys.), but I still have it written that I find Silent HIll scarier than Dead Space in my book. Also, I think they are both awesome, and Dead Space is more exciting and has better gameplay overall. (but less of that fear factor.) And, at the risk of being called a fanboy, I have only played Homecoming in the Silent Hill series, and I have throughly completed Dead Space. I loved both games, and while I enjoyed Dead Space more, I found it to be more of an action game than horror.

Argh. I love how many Final Fantasy fanboys have ravaged these commenting boards, too stupid to realise that gaming is a complete opinion and that GR is entitled to their own opinion. There is no official "These games are better" meter, and it is complete opinion. GR is only sharing their humble opinion, and yet some people are obviously too stupid to accept the fact that just because people's opinions differentiate from theirs, doesn't mean that said people are idiots. Seriously, angry ranters, grow up, and learn to respect one's opinions rather than screaming your own at these people like they are facts. The 100 lamest game-industry clichés
I generally find that all of these cliches are unavoidable in writing a review. The point of a review is to inform others how good or bad the game is, and some of these phrases are overused simply because they get the job done. Everyone knows what "Action packed" means, and that word is a good descriptor. I hear people say that a game is "Beautiful" alot and do I mind it? No, mainly because it is the most simple way to describe the graphics. Not to mention the fact that some of these words can be used to further bring others towards a good game. For example, if you said that Okami (You know you cannot resist this game!) was "Revolutionary" and "Action packed", people would want to purchase it more.

One of my favorite games. If anything is my favorite bit, it is the versus modes. Most people who don't really know how to play it flame it as "too cheap for infected players", but really it is all about coordination. If a team is just flailing themselves at the enemy as the infected in versus, they are definitely going to fail. If they set up attack points, (Like 2 hunters and a smoker all snagging their prey after all of the survivors are vomited on by a boomer, or a smoker pulling a survivor into a car, setting the alarm off, followed by 2 hunters pouncing on the other survivors) then versus becomes alot more fun, and success is almost inevitable.
