What I don't really comply with is how most of these characters are remembered. Most of them are not remembered in their very first game. Sequels tend to fill the gaps and slowly change our memory of most of the characters.

What I don't consider to look bad is Rinoa. FF's characters shouldn't even be on the list. Seriously, can you come up with a character of that time who even looked closely as good as Rinoa did? And let's not talk about her outer space cut-scene.

Joking right? I'd rather have a game with a thousand boobalicous women then that, that grandma looking shit. Same thing with the brooding pretty boy type vs. buzz cut,15inch biceps army clones, or WORST that lightsaber wielding gay from Wii. Seriously he screams of gayness.

How about these games:
-Shadow Hearts From the New World,ripped off from Final Fantasy X.

Copied Story:A female priestess-like character(Shanaia),wanders around to find temples in order to gain power form them, this power helps her turn into anthropomorphic elemental creatures(resembling?),and weakens her body. Oh and add the tall,wordless,native-american looking guardian who follows/protects her. Even the main protagonist resembles Tidus in looks and somewhat in attitude.

Ripped status screen and even save screen. Even the map looks identical.

Ripped leveling up&ability gaining system. a.k.a Sphere Grid. In SH.F.T.N.W there's this zodiac system thing in which you place your magics and abilities, it looks strikingly alike visually to FFX Sphere Grid, and while it doesn't offer the depth of the S.G, it still works in a similar way: the zodiac constellation has this free slots where you put the magic there, and you can upgrade these slots in order to be able to use stronger magic.

Even the FF-esque "take me to the fighting screen" visual effect.

-Guitar Hero, ripped from Guitar Freaks.
And I mean, EVERYTHING.

-God of War franchise, ripped off from Devil May Cry franchise.

Whether it is for the redish ghostly ways being blocked,until you defeat all enemies.
For the red orbs(blood) you accumulate and pay in order to get new abilities,new moves. Or green orbs in order to replenish you health. Getting a longer health bar and MP/DT points by means of attaining a certain number of certain items.
Almost identical HUD,controlling scheme&mechanics, a power up mode, different costumes attained from beating the game in varying difficulties.

-Grand theft Auto,ripped off from Driver.
What GTA is nowadays is basically a Driver 2 with guns,health bar,mafia and crappy story line.

-The Legend Of Zelda:Twilight princess/Okami.
More of a draw here.
The thing is, even though Okami came first then Twilight Princess, Okami has taken so much from The Legend of Zelda franchise, whereas Twilight Princess with the whole wolf with tattoos and a creature atop for the ride resembles a lot to Okami.

-Ninja Gaiden a rip off from Castelvania.

The old 2D platformer NG is inarguably Castelvania with ninjas. If you played both games, you just know.
