I'll wait for a while before looking into it more. I'm not big on sci-fi/future MMOs, but if this one is done well, I would definitely want to get in on the action.
I was honestly really looking forward to this game. It looked so fun and original. If it could pull off all of these interesting elements, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. I'm really sad to see it came out such a mess.
I've posted dozens of screenshots on Steam of some absolutely beautiful scenes in this game. There was one dungeon that looked soooo much like Minas Tirith from Lord of the Rings and it floored me with its size and detail. This is the one game that I can truly say I am interested in every single place I came across. Even if I haven't played it for weeks, I still love every part of it. It's just amazing that the creators worked to make each dungeon and area unique. I never, ever came across an area that reminded me exactly of another area, and that shows real dedication.
Though I see your point about a UKer posting this, SOPA/PIPA would affect just about every country. Even if you live out of the country, a lot of the content accessed originates from the US, so you wouldn't be able to view it.
Yah, that's exactly what I was thinking. They could easily fix that issue to keep future players from trying it, but the ones who have already done it weren't technically doing anything wrong.
I didn't like how evil and corrupt the Thieves Guild felt, so I haven't done any more of their quests. In Morrowind, they were kinda the good guys, like a guild of Robin Hoods and I loved that. In Oblivion too, it never felt like I was just one big douchebag. I felt like I was actively helping people. In this one, they really just are bunch of thieves without regards to the type of people they're stealing from.
I haven't gone to the sanctuary for the Dark Brotherhood yet, but I'd really like to go through their quests. That was my absolute favorite part of Oblivion. Those quests were the most unique and fun, even if the slaughter of that entire base of operations at the end disheartened me.
My fiance lives in Australia and he tells me how much he spends for games and hardware there. I thought $50 for a PC game was a lot, then he told me he would spend $100-120. On sale, it's about the same price I would pay for something not on sale. He pays tons more for video cards and any other PC parts. And when I was looking to buy a new laptop, he would find the same exact one at a shop in Aus for almost twice as much.
He always wants to buy me games off of Steam, but since he has to pay so much, I tell him not to since I could buy them for half the amount (Not that I could afford them anyway, haha).
But anyways, it's why we both love Steam so much. 90% of the time, when something is on sale, it's the same price for both of us. There have been some occasions where a really popular game is still twice as much to buy there as it is here, but for the most part, they're roughly the same.
It's the same with anime. In Japan and Aus, it's ridiculously expensive, whereas here, it's actually pretty damn cheap. Even though we gripe about how much it might cost, we pay waaaay less than a lot of countries.
I got the Gamecube purely for Twilight Princess. Of course, Twilight Princess ended up being delayed for a year (nearly two) so it could be featured as a main release on the Wii. But, in the meantime, I played SSBM and Wind Waker to death.
I still break out the GC to play it, but I never really had that many games for it.
Totally doing this. I'm already a massive kleptomaniac when it comes to RPG's. (Trust me, I've endured the "You are over encumbered" message more times than you could possibly count)
Guitar Hero 3 was the biggest one for me. It opened me up to Queens of the Stone Age, which is now in my top 3 favorite bands, as well as getting into more Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, and Rage Against the Machine.
Then, after GH kick-started my love for music games, I quickly latched onto Rock Band 1 & 2 and eventually 3, which further showed me more great music and bands that I still listen to and cherish today.
If I had any money, I would love to buy that for my fiancee. I can imagine the look on his face. The Elder Scrolls series is his favorite RPG series of all time.
