The First Templar (Xbox 360): The First Templar – first look
I would be interested in a more realistic take on the Templar, though the lack of gory combat might take off the grim reality of combat.

Gears of War 3 (Xbox 360): Gears of War 3 campaign mode is 'too buggy' says MS rep. Cliffy B says 'horseshit'
Well, both gears 1 and 2 had fairly serious glitches, almost game breaking for single player. (pushing the car and the craine bits)

Ah, now I just remember mario party on the N64, that did cause some rather horrific blisters during spin the stick events.

Best I've ever heard was a guy who was playing eternal darkness on the gamecube whilst sitting on the table. He innocently looked in the bathtub and the resulting shock caused him to fall backwards from the table. Damn thing nearly gave me a cardiac arrest aswell!
1 year, 4 months ago Gaming's craziest cults
I think there's a certain irony to the article. I mean, only a very small number of Catholics, or most religions for that matter view thier holy text as absolute truth. Obviously the Catholicism of dante's inferno isn't an accurate depiction of modern Catholicism, by acting as though it were I got the impression that jim was jesting, playing up to the attitude of the Internet in general towards gaming.

Even if he wasn't, he's expressing some ones opinion is incorrect and causing a debate, which is hardly crime of the century!

I can think of a few more fun cults, Los illuminados in resi 4 is a good one!

Fair play on the Catholicism thing, I don't belive religion should be immune to criticism, after all, if people will hold an outdated and inaccurate belife in the face of overwhelming evidence, why not poke fun?

Poor guy, he can't do anything right! I find it funny that he thinks video games are like a training manual to war, I mean, I can do modern warfare 2 on vet, but in a real war, I'd be dead in seconds! I play a ton of video games and can assure you, I'm no super soilder!
1 year, 4 months ago What is 'irony'? Toshiba using PS3 tech to make glasses-free 3D TV
Well I don't really think 3D is all that great. I've seen a few films in 3D, they never really seemed worth the extra money. If anything, a big 3D effect breaks the emersion and reminds me what I'm seeing isn't real, reminding me I'm sat in the cinema.

I guess it could work in gaming, but I don't think it's advanced enough to invest that much money in.
1 year, 4 months ago Games industry representative vaguely calls for more research into video game addiction
You make some good points matt, I've got a degree in psychology, and often feel people only view addiction as a chemical dependency. The fact is, it's possible to become emotionaly dependent on somthing. WoW is the cliche example, but I'd hazard a guess that for some people the emotional conection to a game and it's world are a factor in addiction.
Why would I want to spend my time as chris, the guy who works in a call center when I can be comander shepard of the normandy battling the reapers, or the lone wounderer exploring the capital wastes? I play as though it was me in that situation, I make decisions based on my own morality, not as the game may "expect". In a way, my charcter is an extention of my physical self, existing in a fantasy world. It's not hard to imagine people prefering this virtual life to thier real one.
