Lol at "Blasphemy". Reminds me of USA's "obscenity laws". In fact, I'm pretty sure I read something or other about a US politician taking about bringing back obscenity laws to regulate video games. It seems ridiculous and absurd that a government would be in charge of things such as "obscenity" and religious context. What the hell do they care how I spend my time? Stop pandering to low-hanging fruit and try fixing the real problems for a change.
Wow, that was the best Talkradar in a good long while. It combined everything I love about the podcast: good music (DustForce is brilliant), unbridled stupidity and fart jokes, and some nostalgia by way of old Tdar segments. Talkradar sure has felt different since everyone left, but it as sure fun reliving old moments. Thanks, guys!
Fighting games are weird... that's basically all I got.
Why did you only compare it to other SC's? Seeing as how fighting games are at the most popular they've been in years, surely it would have been reasonable to compare it to SSF4 or MvC or others?
Cool article; very original idea. Funny that half the list consists of Nintendo characters.
Although he's not technically a clone, the scene in Max Payne in which Max fights Max (during the nightmare section) was pretty cool, and a neat twist on an already messed up portion of the game.
Having not played Silent Hill (I only picked up SH2 about a month back, and am still too freaked out to get past the first enemy), I was under the assumption that the love for SH2 came from the story, not the mechanics or exploration. Hopefully I'll man up and finish 2 (and maybe 3) in time to get this.
In a weird way, this is probably the worst possible outcome for the rumors. "Confirming" that no, all your hopes and dreams aren't founded in reality isn't what people wanted to hear. Granted, you can't do what people want all the time, but it's been over a half-decade; it's time to give us a little something. At the very least, people can hang on to that reply from Gabe to /v/ about a HL3 announcement at E3...
Alright, another Talkradar Christmas Special! Just so you know, I listened to the first Christmas Special this Christmas, and it's still just as good. For those who joined only recently, please go back and listen to podcast 32.5, AKA the Talkradar Xmas Special. It's still just as magical. Haven't imbibed this one yet, but I have no doubt it will be just as marvelous. Thanks for going the extra mile and doing this, guys. You got everyone Tdards know, and a few extras - cool to see Diana on this!
This makes me feel MUCH better. Of course, Rockstar has every right to ignore Remedy's advice, but past MP3 experience has shown Rockstar to be very sensitive on the topic of whether or not they're doing the franchise justice or not. This is indeed good news.
In fact, I'm completely secure in the gameplay aspect of the game; there's little doubt it'll be a quality shooter (multiplayer is another story, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there). The only wild card now is the narrative AND the delivery of said narrative. The motion comic approach frankly sucks compared to the original 'real' comic panels. They were very 'noir', something in-engine montages can't capture. I guess we'll see soon enough.
That doesn't make a lot of sense - this is the end of the Wii, and the end of Zelda games on Wii. The Wii U has moved on from the motion controller, and they honestly cannot expect you to wave that touchscreen controller about. So either they're doing analog stick combat, or this is BS, or just poorly worded. It's obvious that Nintendo is keen on pushing gameplay, but surely they're not abandoning the buttons entirely, because that's when their fans abandon them.
Can't say this was a surprise, but I'm pretty bummed. Cartoon Network has such a great roster spanning the decades, and if they had attempted to make an actual game rather than a boxback checklist, this could have been awesome. Any game is worth picking up at 5 bucks, which I will do, but it still sucks Courage the Cowardly Dog gets shafted in his first (second) video game outing.
PS This seems like a good time as any to say that Telltale should pick up the Courage the Cowardly Dog license and make it episodic.
@Everyone who hasn't played Beyond Good and Evil: For shame - you had 8 years to do it. Not only that, it was well worth the 10 or 15 bucks.
Sony announced that their best-selling PSN game was the Infamous stand-alone. I'm pretty sure XBLA's best selling game is Shadow Complex. I really, really hope that between the two platforms, BG&E takes top prize. Such a marvelous game; it deserves the money and recognition. Maybe the sales numbers will convince Ubisoft to give Ancel the resources he needs to make the best effing game for the 720/PS4. From what he's been talking about, it'll be a cross between Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed... and BG&E. That seems quite alright in my book.
That snappy art book sure is snappy. I actually picked up Rayman 1 recently - still looks terrific, but the gameplay is a tad slow and methodical. The music is fantastic as well.
A Heavy Rain entry? You know what that means... sh*tty French accents on the podcast!!!
Still see that Bomberman in Subject Delta's face...
I'm pretty sure you missed the greatest, most giving character in gaming: God, as seen in Sims and SimCity. You, as God, give people an entire city or a complete fulfilling life! You play mother to one, or thousands!
Ha ha, take that Brett! They kick you out AND start a VGM podcast just to spite you!
Seriously though, this is cool - now I get a double dose of game music from SoundRadar and VGMpire. PS Congrats on getting your music gig back, Sophia; I infrequently followed Sound Bytes, and it was very enjoyable. Can't wait to see more SR.
