Fable 2- i got the achievement for owning a real estate of 2.5 million gold. oh that and the Black Knight one. Where you have to shoot a hollow man in a specific order.

Oblivion-I got everything, 1000/1000 :D my proudest right there.

It really depends on the game your playing, like you said with such games as bioshock,half life 2 etc. the pop-ups can be annoying.
Then again as wud03 said, achievements can be quite liberating too, for games with achievements for online multiplayer, dont you have to get immersed in the game to get those achievements?

I think it sounds pretty groovy, the trailer was well made too.

assassins creed-good, but gets too repetive.
Gh/RB- i think there fun for parties, but not alone.
killzone2-i never played it because i dont have a ps3, but it looks really fun.
space giraffe- never played it. never even heard of it.
pokemon-the first 150 were awrsome then they killed it.
deadrising-save system is terrible,but other then that a fun game.
halo-i have an xbox360,and i think halo isnt that fun. i mean its just a futuristic shooter. if you want really good multiplayer. play call of duty 4 or call of duty WAW
