To tired to formulate proper response. Main points are as follows. -Sure are a lot of pro pc responses. -People don't factor in the fact that while a pc may be more expensive than a console, it is also a pc. Which most households consider essential anyway (to allow people to use MS word + facebook). -Also getting a pc is significantly cheaper if you utilise the parts you already have. Do you need a new monitor, mouse keyboard and speakers? If you don't mind getting your hands dirty you can recycle a lot of the inner pieces too. Not to mention the case and the power supply. -Computers don't fall apart because you don't feed them hundreds every year. I'm playing Skyrim on a computer I paid $800 for two years ago. It might not look destroy the console version in looks but it's stable and pretty enough on the "high" setting.
tldr.
You will have a computer regardless of weather you play games on it, by choosing console gaming because "it's cheaper", you are opting to pay for both, an Xbox and a pc (which is not cheaper).
Chances are, you already have a pc. It may not be able to run Crysis or The Witcher II maxed out, but it is (very likely) more than enough to suckle on the pc's glorious range of indie games.
Wow, that was longer and stupider than it was supposed to be.
Great article and stunning conclusion. I thoroughly enjoyed it. In reguards to my physical game collection, I have unconsciously ordered only my DS games alphabetically. My pc games, on the same shelf, correspond to your method #6. I shall have to correct that.
I use steam. I have a lot of games on steam. I like steam. It doesn't matter how functional Origin is (or isn't) I certainly won't be splitting my games library(again) to sign on. Steam and Valve have been good to me (insane sales, generally lower prices and, of course, free stuff), so I see no need to sign up to a new service which has nothing to offer but EA games. I was on the fence about BF3, but Origin is the last straw of indifference.
put together a gaming on a gaming pc two years ago for $800, it's still going strong. Still getting around 180 fps on TF2 on which I have 700 hours. I'd call that a solid investment.
@Radimir, I was about to tell you how wrong you were, when I had the foresite to check EB games. Jesus shit new ps3 games up to $118 AUD (which is worth marginally more than US right now). I forget these things because I'm so spoiled by steam.
@MNC No, I'm quite sure that is not the case. Free to play people get no customisation because they haven't found or brought anything yet. They do not have stripped down accounts. The only thing the differentiates people who paid for the game and those who didn't is one hat.
I agree with your main point, but haters always gunna hate.
TAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLKKKKKKKKKK RRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR!!! Also 511 comments is pretty pitiful, shame on the who has not yet left comment.
