Filmed in 29 single takes and containing almost no dialogue, CS Leigh's Process is the gruelling story of a cancer-afflicted actress (a superb Béatrice Dalle) who decides to top herself after her child dies in a road accident and her marriage breaks down. Following in the European arthouse tradition of shooting extreme images with elegant detachment, it's a baffling, discomforting film, whose bitterly ironic closing song is The Jam's `That's Entertainment'.
