Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 review

Slipping down the league…

Pros

  • Improved presentation
  • More modes
  • No Road-Runner leg-blur

Cons

  • Little has changed in gameplay
  • Less realistic than FIFA
  • Less refined than FIFA

With PES 2009, Konami have now released four versions of their legendary footy series on PSP. And while in gameplay terms little has changed between this and last year’s version, the presentation and gameplay options match the console versions, making this a worthwhile update. It also features the best handheld footy graphics yet and the full Become a Legend mode. As ever, whether you prefer this to FIFA will depend on what floats your boat more: PES’s arcadey thrills or the more refined and realistic FIFA.

DescriptionAfter a stumble last year, PES is back on its feet, though even a great game over and over starts to wear a little thin. At least they have Manchester now. Oi!
