Precious metal?

Jason Rubin, whose development credits include Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter, has revealed his new game Iron and the Maiden. It's hardly the most typical of revelations, however, since Rubin has debuted Maiden via a MySpace page, something more viral than the typical salvo of screenshots that gets fired into our face.

Above: A shadow of a colossus. Just what the hell is Rubin cooking?

The page itself shows little more than a logo and a silhouette of a chunky comic-style character. Rubin's own announcement goes as follows: "After 20 years at Naughty Dog I've decided to try something new. Iron and the Maiden will be my first solo project. It isn't Crash Bandicoot, and it isn't Jak and Daxter. This is something new. Raw, uncensored, uncut. It's been in the back of my head for years looking to get out, and I've assembled an incredible team to bring it to fruition. Stay tuned..."

Oh, we will. Rubin has been outspoken about the games industry in the past, but he's one of few mouthpieces who seems able to back his words up with quality products. As for where the game is headed, no format has yet been announced, but guessing PS3 or Xbox 360 (or both) would likely get you good odds at the bookies.
