Pokemusings, week 21

Armed with the Technician ability, four moves to consider for Ambipom are Fake Out, Fling, Double Hit, and Last Resort. Fake Out causes your opponent to flinch, as does Fling if used with the King's Rock item. If your enemy's Pokemon have an average (or lower) amount of Hit Points, it's entirely possible to take two of them out before they make a move. Use Fake Out for the first flinch and follow it up with Double Hit - both of these moves are powered up by the Technician ability. After that use Fling for a second flinch and follow it up with the powerful Last Resort attack (130 power!!!). This move set can be used as a nasty surprise and can wreak havoc with opponents that aren't properly prepared for it.

Above: Ambipom's use of flinching move will annoy the hell out of your opponents

Another way to go with Ambipom is to just give it Fake Out and Last Resort. On one hand, it's a tad less versatile than the previously mentioned move set, but it does give you more flexibility with hold items and doesn't necessarily require the Technician ability (though its still useful for Fake Out). For this two-move set, just use Fake Out once and blast away with Last Resort until Ambipom dies or you can safely switch out. The Silk Scarf accessory is a good choice for this set.

No matter which way you go with Ambipom, its ability to induce flinching has the potential to handcuff your foes. More importantly, perhaps, it'll frustrate and annoy them. Who would have thought that a Pokemon with a eerie smile and two blown up rubber gloves attached to its twin tales could be such a handful?
