I'm partial to venasaur, I've never liked the other 2 as much as everyone else. That being said, I like its mega most too. It's got a bigger and better flower and its got vines on it now. Although, their Megan aren't too creative looking. I'm wondering if they're just betting on the fact that we're all excited shitless that the starters are there so early anyway so they're not as worried about their looks.
  • shawksta - September 5, 2013 7:29 p.m.

Their temporary mega forms to begin with For example that canon of Blastoise is WAY too big to actually intract back into its shell, but it makes sense the form itself is only during battle

does anyone know, is there an official pokemon all regions world map? like where they all are in relation to one another?
  • J-Fid - September 5, 2013 1:30 p.m.

Kanto and Johto border each other, and Hoenn and Sinnoh are within the same part of the Pokemon World. Unova, however, is much farther away from the others. I have no clue about the Kalos region, but it'll probably be similar to Unova.

    I gotch you
  • J-Fid - September 5, 2013 4:05 p.m.

You might want to have read that the map on Serebii is in no way official, and made the way it was for "space reasons."
  • Bloodstorm - September 5, 2013 10:39 a.m.

These are pretty cool. I'm a first gen Pokemon fan, and so I'm always a bit worried about them messing with them, like the awful Rhydon evolution. These, however, are very true to their linage. Being Charizard has always been my favorite Pokemon, I'm partial to Mega Charizard. He looks really cool. I like the other 2 as well, but I think I like Venusaur a bit more than Blastoise, but I've never been big on the Squitrle family.
  • J-Fid - September 5, 2013 10:17 a.m.

Mega Venusaur's subtle changes are what make it the best of the three. Chespin and Bulbasaur FTW!!!
  • C.King - September 5, 2013 8:44 a.m.

i already know how much they charging 500 yen a year. last time i checked the exchange rate told me it'd be $5.09 i seeing all these mega evolutions and keep making me think every pokemon would get one but they have yet to show any pokemon with a branched evolution or a new pokemon(gen 5 or 6) that can mega evolve.
  • Frieza - September 5, 2013 5:52 a.m.

I guess Magnezones have vaginas now. And no one touched unpon the fact that they absolutely butchered Charmander's cry!? Squirtle is my favorite Pokemon, but even with my unbiased feelings aside Blastoise looks awesome. I was debating whether to start with Chespin or Froakie for my game, but if you get the Kanto starters as well it makes my decision a lot easier.
  • J-Fid - September 5, 2013 10:12 a.m.

I actually noticed the Charmander cry thing too. In one part of the Direct, the cry sounds really weird, but later in the Direct, it sounded normal. I think the first one was just a mistake.
  • shawksta - September 5, 2013 11:10 a.m.

I noticed with the cry. Actually, they started editing some of the cry's. In the demo you can hear Mewtwo's was slighty altered and Crobat had more tones in his cry. Don't know about Charmander but maybe they are looking to edit charizard considering its been 5 gens and he and Rhyhorn still share the same cry
  • Frieza - September 5, 2013 12:16 p.m.

But at least their cries sounded similar to their originals. Charmander's cry was just a dumb little squeak. If they want to change his cry that's fine, but to a squeak?... How about a cry similar to the one they gave him in Pokemon Stadium? I would have been fine with that.
  • J-Fid - September 5, 2013 1:32 p.m.

How about they edit zero cries. I really don't need to memorize 649 more cries than I need too.
  • Frieza - September 5, 2013 2:47 p.m.

Lol. I can see where you're coming from. But be careful what you say.Disliking change is worthy of crucifixion in the Pokemon community.
  • codystovall - September 5, 2013 4:38 a.m.

The venusaur mega kinda sucks compared to the other two, and I love venusaur, hes my favorite in fact, so Im very disappointed. Ill probably pick Fennekin and either charmander or squirtle.
  • masterjoe123 - September 5, 2013 4:09 a.m.

Definitely getting that Blastoise. It looks awesome. The other ones are ok, but Blastoise is my favorite.
  • SpadesSlick - September 5, 2013 2:59 a.m.

It's going to be 500 yen a year by the way. Around 5 bucks.
  • JarkayColt - September 5, 2013 1:48 a.m.

From a competitive standpoint, Mega Charizard still seems very poor. Most of the previous Megas seemed to go a good way towards fixing their downfalls (Mega Mawile has Huge Power!), but GF missed a trick by not making Mega Charizard a Fire/Dragon type (which would have fixed its crippling Rock weakness.) It could have retained its Flying properties with Levitate. As a Drought user I still think it will be outclassed by Ninetales, especially if you're only allowed one Mega Evolution per team. In fact, Charizard would probably still gain more benefit by having its Solar Power Ability alongside a Drought Ninetales so that it can have the luxury of any other Held Item, rather than employing Drought itself. IMO Mega Blaziken is also potentially worse than regular Blaziken just because it can't hold an item (again, if you're only allowed one Mega you'd be better off allowing another Pokémon on your team to use it, since regular Blaziken has Speed Boost and can use Swords Dance anyway.) However Mega Venusaur with Thick Fat is excellent. It means that now, it's only weak to Psychic and Flying. It's going to get a bit harder to take down now! I think all their designs are pretty good personally. By the way, in the Direct they say something like, you should be excited to see what all the other Pokémon look like when they Mega Evolve. They also said it is special because you feel as though your bond with your favourite Pokémon transcends into the Mega Evolution. From that, it seems to imply that at the very least every final-stage Pokémon will be able to Mega Evolve. It wouldn't be fair if somebody's favourite Pokémon couldn't do it whilst another person's could. Whether or not it will apply to every Legendary Pokémon or not though is a different matter, however from what we've seen so far it's probably safe to say that I don't think any not-fully-evolved Pokémon will be able to Mega Evolve (so can people just stop it with the Mega Magikarp jokes already. XD)

It says in the website that Mega Charizard's special attack is boosted significantly. . Solar Power boosts it by %50, whose to say the extra Special Attack boost Mega Charizard gets isnt equal or better than Solar Power? Also DAMN with Mega Venasaur as it also getting a boost in its Defence and Special Defence. Your right about other Pokemon, and its really exciting.
