Playable PS3 next week?

Sony will show off PlayStation 3 at the Taipei Games Show in Taiwan next week, allocating a quarter of its show-floor space to the super-hardware.

It'll be the first outing for the next-gen console since last year's E3 event and hopes are high that the machine will be available for a hands-on experience.

A playable version of PS3 would undoubtedly be the star of the show and could potentially affect the impact of Microsoft's big Xbox 360 push in Taiwan, which is due to get underway on March 16. Why the damn thing is coming out in Taiwan when the US launch is still crippled by shortages is beyond us, but that's a subject for another article.

Back on target, Sony declined to comment when we inquired about the possibility of playable PS3 at TGS, although it does seem unlikely as it could take some of the wind out of Sony's campaign for this year's E3.

Obviously we'll be keeping a close eye on TGS when the event opens its doors next Thursday.
