Platypus

Claymation graphics are cool, but this sidelong shooter lays an egg with its drearily typical gameplay

Words: on December 11, 2006

To make matters worse, other than a so-so multiplayer alternative, there's only one mode in the game...which can take you as little as a single afternoon to accomplish. The game does tally up your points and record your score, but nothing satisfying comes out of it. There is a survival mode as well, but it's only the first level with a recycled objective: don’t get hit. So, it really doesn't even feel like its own mode at all.

Unless you really, really dig old-school shooters that will take no more than a day to completely finish, this game isn't for you. Unfortunately, for what Platypus is, a thirty-dollar asking price is hard to accept.
