PopCap Games has just announced plans to launch an XBLA version of Plants vs. Zombies this September. The Xbox Arcade version of the game will include a new co-op and versus mode, as well as a new ‘customized house’ for tracking and sharing progress.

“With a ton of new features and content exclusive to the XBLA version, we’ve pulled out all the stops to both expand and optimize this adaptation for a hard core gaming audience. The two new multiplayer modes allow gamers to work cooperatively to defeat hordes of invading zombies, or go head-to-head in a true ‘plants vs. zombies’ challenge. We’re also featuring a customized ‘house’ for tracking and sharing progress as well as a total of 21 mini-games and 12 achievements, all designed to enthrall Plants vs. Zombies players once again,” said PopCap’s Ed Allard in a press release.
A little over a week ago, GamesRadar and PC Gamer received an email from PopCap Games with a suggestive subject line that said, “PsssssPvZssssst... save the date!” That, along with a not-so-subtle attached image seemed to hint that PoPCap would be making a Plants vs. Zombies-related announcement on August 2. It sounds like we can expect to hear more about the upcoming XBLA version of the game and details on the new co-op and versus modes then.
The PC version of Plants vs. Zombies was last featured in GamesRadar’s picks for the Top 7 best games of 2009.
