As a frontrunner for a Best Actor Oscar for his consuming portrayal of Johnny Cash in Walk The Line, Joaquin Phoenix is currently flicking through scripts that could potentially shape the rest of his career. Those fortunate enough to skip from the Kodak Theatre on 5 March with a gold statuette under their arm will find a spotlight firmly fixed on their next move.
Phoenix though seems to be choosing his projects wisely - as we told you recently he’s already signed up to appear opposite Mark Wahlberg in crime-drama We Own The Night.
Now it’s looking increasingly likely that the star will hook up with Wahlberg’s Four Brothers helmer John Singleton for actioner Without Remorse.
Based on the novel of the same name from thrill-scribbler Tom Clancy, the story follows a former elite Navy Seal Commando called John Kelly who joins the CIA and operates under the name Mr Clarke.
Having featured in Clancy’s Jack Ryan series, Clarke has previously popped up on celluloid – played by Willem Defoe in Clear And Present Danger and Liev Schreiber in The Sum Of All Fears.
