What's the matter? Scared, are you? Well, it's time to be brave and dip your toe into an online world - a world where you're not the only important one. Massively multi-player online RPGs have finally grown up, so there's never been a better time to try. World of Warcraft perfects all the basics: create a character, enter a beautifully detailed fantasy world along with hundreds of other real people, take on quests and develop your character. To be honest, there's not a lot of innovation, but ...

We got a chance to sit down with J. Allen Brack, the lead producer for World of Warcraft, during BlizzCon - the two-day all-Blizzard-all-the-time fest. Brack talked about the upcoming patch and the recently announced second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. “Northrend has been part of WoWs development for some time, it has a long history in Warcraft 3,” said Brack. “Back in the early days we actually talked about adding it with original continents, but that obviously didnt ...   » Read Full World of Warcraft preview

Regular raiders can look forward to Zul'Aman, a new instance coming down the pipeline in Blizzard's upcoming World of Warcraft patch. Located in the southwestern region of the Ghostlands, Zul'Aman will be a 10-man level 70 raid. With its intimate party size and lack of any attunement or reputation requirements, Zul'Aman seems designed to provide smaller raiding parties and guilds burnt out on Karazhan with some fresh stomping ...   » Read Full World of Warcraft preview

Apr 4, 2007
We were running Mechanar on Heroic the other day and while clearing the final boss - which is really the only boss with any worthwhile loot - we wiped. No problem. We ran back, zoned in, got to the elevator… and it glitched. We couldnt reach the boss, and were stuck on the floor wed already cleared with hours of work wasted. We opened a petition with a GM since the same glitch had happened earlier to a friends group and a GM had opened the gate for them. The GM we got, however, ...   » Read Full World of Warcraft preview

This is a rock-star moment for Shane Dabiri. He's the producer of the world-conquering World of Warcraft, standing in front of 6000 Blizzcon attendees, about to announce the first details of the World of Warcraft expansion. But his players are uppity. Much of the detail of his presentation, and the introduction of a new race, the Blood Elves, has found its way on to the web already. It's going to have to be quite a show to satisfy this audience. All it takes is a little flash of charisma to turn ...   » Read Full World of Warcraft preview

World Of WarCraft is big. That much could be expected from a developer whose games routinely pull in more preorders than many titles ever sell, but Blizzard's entry into the new wave of massively multiplayer titles casts a long shadow. The beta launch saw WOW fansites across the internet collapse in domino sequence under an avalanche of information-starved hits; there are 'US beta testers' with IP addresses from Argentina to the Ukraine; and at the time of writing there are accounts for sale on ...   » Read Full World of Warcraft preview
