A strong rumor is going around the net that David Wenham might play the role of Prince Arthas Menethil in the upcoming Warcraft The Movie to be directed by Sam Raimi.
Though Blizzard Entertainment originally said the movie wouldn't feature Arthas, this was said back on 2007 at Blizzcon when Gary Whitta was secretly the script writer.

Because I'm one of those bastards who've been constantly questioning when the hell the patch was going to come. I've even placed a couple of bets with some guildies, for crying out loud, as to when Blizzard was going to finally release the damn thing. Some speculated mid July, others the ending of July, and a few the beginning of August. Well, guess what, guildies of mine, I said it was going to be released early August and it happened. Activision Blizzard's World of Warcraft has been down for weeks in China, as the hugely popular MMORPG switches operators from The9 to NetEase -- though it has just relaunched to existing users in free, 'closed beta' form.
But Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian said in a Friday research note that the financial impact on Activision Blizzard from the downtime will be "modest," partly because Asia makes up just 6 percent of total worldwide World of Warcraft revenues, he estimated.
"While Asia accounts for roughly 50 percent of global users, we estimate the region contributes less than 10 percent of total WoW revenues, due to the licensing structure and timecard model," he wrote.

The Warcraft movie is booked to be released in 2012, according to Warner Bros. who are co-financing the film with Legendary Pictures.
Warner is also reportedly thinking of launching a franchise based on World of Warcraft, after it was confirmed this week that Sam Raimi would be directing the Warcraft film. They believe the series could be as popular as Harry Potter.

Gamer Limit writes: "Blizzard have gotten themselves into a bit of hot water in China involving a change in operating procedure. As a result, the local version of WoW has been down for roughly 6 weeks now, and it's looking unlikely that this embargo will be rising any time soon.
Due to strict rules regarding MMO's, and gaming in general, local distributors, or "operators" of foreign games have to submit the game to the government for review of new content. The government, unsurprisingly, didn't like what they saw in Blizzard's latest refresh of the 3 year old title."
