We got a chance to sit down with J. Allen Brack, the lead producer for World of Warcraft, during BlizzCon - the two-day all-Blizzard-all-the-time fest. Brack talked about the upcoming patch and the recently announced second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. “Northrend has been part of WoWs development for some time, it has a long history in Warcraft 3,” said Brack. “Back in the early days we actually talked about adding it with original continents, but that obviously didnt ... » Read More

Regular raiders can look forward to Zul'Aman, a new instance coming down the pipeline in Blizzard's upcoming World of Warcraft patch. Located in the southwestern region of the Ghostlands, Zul'Aman will be a 10-man level 70 raid. With its intimate party size and lack of any attunement or reputation requirements, Zul'Aman seems designed to provide smaller raiding parties and guilds burnt out on Karazhan with some fresh stomping ... » Read More

We were running Mechanar on Heroic the other day and while clearing the final boss - which is really the only boss with any worthwhile loot - we wiped. No problem. We ran back, zoned in, got to the elevator… and it glitched. We couldnt reach the boss, and were stuck on the floor wed already cleared with hours of work wasted. We opened a petition with a GM since the same glitch had happened earlier to a friends group and a GM had opened the gate for them. The GM we got, however, ... » Read More

Like Quake II, it all begins in a crash-landed escape pod. Once you've created your Draenei character - the tall blue demons who join the Alliance side in this expansion - you wander out of the wreck and into your new world. Your early quests are to help other Draenei injured in the crash, find those who are lost, and check out your new surroundings. After these scene-setting levels in a spooky forest lit by scattered Draenei power crystals, you're sent on a mission to Exodar, the crashed ... » Read More

World of Warcraft Lead Game Designer Tom Chilton stopped by our offices today to herald the end of the 40-man WoW raid - massive battles in which huge groups of 40 players clash with gigantic dragons. With the new expansion The Burning Crusade set to launch this holiday, developer Blizzard has taken a firm stance in shrinking these massive adventuring parties to eliminate the drama that springs from arguing over the best weapons and armor. In an effort to eliminate DKP (Dragon Kill Points - ... » Read More

We cornered lead producer Shane Dabiri and lead game designer Tom Chilton to get the final word on the upcoming expansion to one of the most popular online RPGs in the world. We begin with the story of the Draenei, the freshly announced race, and will continue with our explorations through the massive new zone of the Outland tomorrow (check it out here ). It all begins a very long time ago, when the Eredar race (horned, blue demon-looking creatures) fractured into three different camps lead by ... » Read More

In the first part of our Burning Crusade blow-out, we covered the history of the Draenei... in this installment, we tackle the world beyond the Dark Portal known as Outland. Crossing through the Dark Portal, which you can already see in the Blasted Lands zone, you're instantly greeted by the sight of shattered desolation. Similar to the orange-hued, sandy wastes of the Blasted Lands, the area just beyond the Dark Portal serves as your introduction to Outland, an entirely new world linked to ... » Read More

Blizzard has confirmed that the much talked about new Alliance race for Burning Crusade - the upcoming expansion pack for massive online PC game World of Warcraft - is the Draenei. Descended from the demonic Eredar race, the Draenei make up one-third of the inhabitants of Draenor, where they live in not so mutual harmony with the ogres and the orcs. And as the remnants of a once great society destroyed by the orcs, they have scores to settle not only with the green-skinned fiends but also with ... » Read More
