It's unclear exactly why Warhammer Online is shutting down three of its game servers, but fans of the game should be pleased to know that if they use one of the servers that are affected, they'll be able to transfer to another one free of charge...
Mythic has announced that starting on February 9, players on the Iron Rock and Volkar servers of Warhammer Online in North America will be allowed to transfer their characters free to Gorfang, while European gamers are allowed to transfer their toons from Carroberg to Drakenwald for free. This is being done for the purposes of shutting those three servers down and concentrating populations on the remaining servers.
Developer BioWare Mythic has spilled in a 'Producer Letter' what fans can expect to change in Warhammer Online as its first patch 1.4.1 comes online. The first tweak is the interface for account entitlements as they will no longer arrive by in-game mail. The team also changed the scenario line-up.
This week, BioWare Mythic has released Patch 1.4 for their PvP oriented MMO, Warhammer Online. At first glance, we can see that Open RvR has been overhauled to include a brand new capture mechanic in Tiers 2-4. BioWare Mythic reiterates that World PvP is where gameplay should ideally be focused, and where the lore of WAR is set to unfold. With a new Skaven race, BioWare Mythic is reinvigorating Warhammer Online players with a reason to come back out and crush some skulls. The new race features four classes: the Warlack Engineer, the Pack Master, the Rat Ogre, and the Gutter Runner.
Studio BioWare-Mythic says that a free-to-play model isn't off the table completely, but right now they've got no plans to start the conversion process. They prefer to focus on content for our subscribers to Warhammer Online. The studio is busy with their Skaven RvR pack that releases soon.
Servicing in Korea has been canceled after all.
In a revealing new Producer's Letter for August, Mythic Entertainment revealed that Skaven would be coming to Warhammer Online in the future, as part of a new RvR pack that will be purchasable in three parts.
Warhammer Online has updated with its latest major update, Against All Odds (game update 1.3.6). The update includes Armor Customization, Against All Odds RvR scaling, Sovereign Armor Split Sets, and Auction House Enhancements.
