dailygamesnews.com - During this special in-game event, which runs from November 18th until December 1st, the armies of WAR will be given orders in preparation for the arrival of two new tank classes.
With the recent server transfers made available to Warhammer Online players, Mythic enabled players to move onto several servers free of charge. Now they're offering limited time server bonuses for players making their trek onto the offered servers. The bonus itself is a 20% rested boost to experience and renown gain. It's a nice little cherry on top for players packing their bags and it should also help encourage some people on the fence to take Mythic up on the offer.
Christmas may be coming early for Warhammer Online subscribers in the form of new playable character classes.
Free character transfers were just announced for Warhammer Online, for characters on low population servers who'd like to move to high population servers. The service will be put into place in the coming days. The character transfers will be done in the Mythic Account Center, which will have a Character Transfer button, just below "Activate a Key" and "Validate your Email Address." In addition to Free Character Transfers, Mythic also announced Guild Transfers. This comes with its own set of caveats as the transfer cannot be reversed, with details to be listed on the Character Transfer page.
From Massively:
GamingShogun writes, "Mythic Entertainment has announced that they are raising open-world RvR combat experience by 50% in order to encourage such activities. Announced as 'Experience Enhancements Phase III', Mythic is attempting to get their combat out of the smaller scenarios and more into the open..."
Warhammer has taken the tanking experience to a whole new level. Tanks are built around RvR instead of PvE. Not only are they meat shields with a lot of hp, they are a full package of utility and protection. No longer are you to just keep "aggro" and soak up damage. Those days are over.
Shacknews Writes:
GI.Biz writes: "Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has only just begun to compete with World of Warcraft, says Mark Jacobs, Mythic's CEO, who commented "It's a marathon, not a sprint."
Wired: "The Knights of the Blazing Sun are devoted to the cult of Myrmidia, goddess of warfare and protector of civilization. These frontline combatants specialize in Battlefield Commands, using applied tactical knowledge to outmaneuver their enemies and lead their allies to victory.
Obsessable: "One of the questions that has been on everyone's minds since Apple announced their new laptops on Tuesday has been whether the improved NVIDIA graphics cards that Steve Jobs spent so much time discussing on stage would mean that Apple's newer laptops would make good gaming machines. While it's unlikely that Apple is going to make any large moves towards becoming a new gaming platform to rival the current PC market, these new graphics cards combined with OS X's Boot Camp, which allows you to install Windows XP or Vista on a separate partition on your Mac's hard drive, allow Mac owners to install all the PC games they want on that partition. The big question is: can the MacBook really handle the graphics required by graphic-intensive games built for PC gaming machines?"
Man, these guys just keep on rollin' with these updates. After the first phase of Mythic's "experience enhancements" players in their 3 and 4 found themselves with an overall improved experience gain in those zones. Now Mythic has taken the next step in phase two by allowing players to receive not only renown, but experience from capturing a keep -- assuming they're the proper,(non-bolstered) level. The Warhammer Online Herald lays out the tier requirements as such, "In Tier 2, players will begin to earn this bonus when they reach rank 15. In Tier 3, the minimum rank required is 25, and in Tier 4 it is 35. Players will notice a diminishing return from keep captures if their level approaches the top of that tier." All in all, it seems like Mythic has put some serious thought into this decision.
Warhammer is all about RvR. The game is primarily designed around the "WAR" concept. A player must utilize both RvR and PvE effectively in order to expedite the leveling process. Since the game thrives on RvR, players who primarily PvE, will miss out on a lot of what WAR has to offer. This is where Scenarios start to play a huge roll. No longer....
EA Mythic has announced that over 750,000 players have registered to play Warhammer Online since the game's launch.
The team at Mythic has been busy this week making improvements and fixes based on your feedback to further enhance your gameplay experience. While these may change, read on after the jump to check out the latest of these exciting updates coming to a server near you!
For the most part, Warhammer is a well polished game and Mythic deserves a lot of credit for creating it. There are a few graphical anomaly's and the occasional drop in FPS. However, there are some reporting a "memory leak" in the game while others are complaining of "lag" when loading new zones. Then there is a minority of players complaining about Bluescreens (BSOD), disconnects, horrible FPS throughout the game and unplayable conditions when playing in RvR areas and Scenarios. Dailywarhammer has decided to create a "Performance Guide" designed to help improve your system's ability to run Warhammer.
One of most overlooked aspects of the game is the dye system. I decided to shine some light on the subject because it hasn't received much love lately. I am a huge fan of the dye system mainly because it allows you....
According to wowinsider who has quoted this post by Tigole, Blizzard is announcing some changes to the current battleground system. The changes reflect a direct competitive move from Blizzard to counter Mythic's Warhammer Online.
In the wake of Warhammer Online's launch, Mythic have kept up a stream of information. Today Massively has Destin Bales, the Live Producer, giving them a rundown of that quintessential WAR ejaculation, Waaagh! 'It's an enthusiastic battle cry, challenging both their enemies on the battlefield and themselves in the office. It's a howl of frustration when at the last moment some piece of code unexpectedly breaks. It's the sound of a rampaging horde of developers rushing to get to the pizza on a night we have to burn the midnight oil to make sure an update to the game is fully tested and ready to go. It's a sort of unofficial slogan they proudly wear on green t-shirts. Oh, and yeah, apparently some Orcs said it once.'
A website called Warheap has recently set up a guild leaderboard system for every server in Warhammer Online. The whole thing is easy to navigate and allows you to sort the top guilds by rank, renown, renown per member, members and average rank. It's also possible to list guilds for both factions on a server or a single faction.
