The ten-day trial period of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has been extended to… eternity? Apparently so, according to this press release from developer Mythic Entertainment. The new streaming client for the endless free trial "enhances the game's accessibility and greatly decreases the download time", making it "easier than ever for new players to experience the never-ending battles of WAR for themselves".
Mythic has been pulling out all stops lately in an effort to improve Warhammer Online. One of their latest changes was to remove fortresses from the RvR campaign equation because many players found them to be a laggy and boring hurdle to be overcome. Doing so, however, had a predictable result: Cities were sieged much more often. While Mythic was acutely aware this would happen, they didn't have measures in place to handle an "all city siege all the time" situation. Today, Andy Belford announced a suite of interim city fixes.

Forged by Chaos, by noted Black Library author C.L. Werner, provides an epic and gripping account of Destruction's incursion into the infinitely massive and decidedly deadly Bastion Stair in search of the legendary Spear of Myrmidia. As the armies of Destruction continue their war upon the civilized lands, the Raven Host of Chaos is poised to march upon the Empire of Man in an unstoppable tide. To ensure victory against the Emperor's Order of the Griffon, an elite party of Chaos warriors is tasked with the quest to find the Spear of Myrmidia and fully unleash the power of the Winds of Chaos. To work such awesome magic, the marauder Kormak must dare venture into the Bastion Stair, portal to the Realm of Khorne, and defy the Blood God's wrath. However, the warriors of the Raven Host are not the only ones with an interest in harnessing the powers of Chaos, Treacherous Dark Elves and brutish Orcs each look to seize the power for themselves, while a desperate Imperial army races to deny all of their foes the dreaded might of Chaos.
