Another PC strategy game is on its way to Xbox 360 - Black Hole Entertainment's sort-of-okay Warhammer: Mark of Chaos.

The news was revealed in a listing by German ratings board USK, which details a demo of the Xbox 360 version to be displayed at the Leipzig Games Convention later this month.

Mark of Chaos joins a long list of RTS titles hopping over to consoles, including World in Conflict, Tom Clancy's EndWar and Halo Wars.

When we first got our hands on an early version of the game this week, we wanted to know if this translation would live up to the lofty bar set by the original Warhammer franchise. In a word, the answer is: yes.

Mark of Chaos is visually staggering - its astonishing ...
One of the oldest races in the Warhammer universe is the Dwarves. The Worlds Edge Mountains is the place they call home, a range east of the Empire that stretches from the very south to the very north. It is within these mountains that resides an extensive labyrinth of tunnels carved out by Dwarves.

These tunnels connect Dwarven strongholds, the centers of their civilizations. It has been a while since the height of their civilization and some of their strongholds have been abandoned, overrun ...
The Orcs and Goblins are generally located in an isolated area known as the Badlands, which lie to the south of the area occupied by the Empire, surrounded by mountain ranges.
High Elves are an ancient, magical race that left the Old World many centuries ago, retreating to the hidden island of Ulthuan. They returned to the Old World by ships during the Great War, lending their magic and skill to the human ranks of the Empire to push the Chaos invasion back.
In the Northern Wastes lies the Realm of Chaos. This is the home to the four Chaos gods: Tzeentch, changer of the ways; Khorne, the blood god; Nurgle, lord of decay; and Slaanesh, the dark prince. Each of these gods can be thought of as epitomizing rage, hope, despair and pleasure. In the Northern Wastes, Chaos seeps into the world, such great power causes the environment and inhabitants to become tainted and mutated by it. The inhabitants of the Wastes worship the Chaos gods, and thus the ...
We have to admit that we thought this week's Warhammer: Mark of Chaos army rollout of the human faction - the Empire - was going to be a little bit, well, dull. Without any mutated, monstrous creatures crawling among their ranks, the Empire seems a little boring at first. We were wrong - dead wrong.

Not only have the developers hooked us up with a treasure trove of knee-buckling shots of the Empire units, they've single-handedly proven to us that this project is a labor of love. What's more, ...
Warhammer Wednesday begins with the evil rat-men of the Warhammer underworld known as the Skaven. Streaming out of the diseased capital of the Skaven Empire, Skavenblight, the society of the Skaven is organized into innumerable clans. The most powerful of these have unique specialties and are known as the four Great Clans; the plague-infested Clan Pestinlens, the warped and mutilated Clan Moulder, the stealthy, black-hearted Clan Eshin and the war-machine-masters Clan ...
There's a welcome trend in today's PC market to craft RTS games that discard much of the resource collecting that has traditionally bogged down the action - who wants to chop wood or mine gold when there's a war to be fought? Warhammer: Mark of Chaos continues this trend, enabling the player to spend most of his or her time doing what fantasy RTS gamers love most - pitting entire armies of knights, demons, giants and - in this case, at least - rat creatures against one another in mortal combat, ...
We can't wait

Crysis
EA dropped the Crysis bomb two months back at the Game Developer's Conference: a three-minute proof-of-concept trailer that allowed us to peer into the future of first-person shooters. We swallowed our gum hard and became cemented in place as we watched (...and watched) as the jungle was torn apart by automatic weapons fire. Tree limbs cracked off, explosions ripped across the landscape and mercenaries stomped through deformable foliage.

Emerging from the dense ...
Thursday 6 April 2006
For all of the awe-inspiring majesty of the Total War games, they never had a giant who can store enemy soldiers in a cage on his belt as health-boosting snacks, and who, upon being killed, will crush any troops beneath him as he collapses. Historical accuracy has its place, but sometimes a fantasy setting is just more fun.

Mark of Chaos intends to deliver epic war, set in the dark, tremendously cool Warhammer fantasy world, and it intends to deliver it in spades. And as ...
WAR! What is it good for? Painted, leaden miniatures and hours of tabletop battles with your friends playing Warhammer, that's what. But we'll have even more reasons when Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, a new real-time strategy game for the PC, comes to life this fall. Our first look showed us a painstakingly faithful representation of Games Workshop's Warhammer universe.

What isn't Warhammer good for? Two things: tedious base-building and mind-numbing resource gathering. Mark of Chaos promises to ...
