PC - Warhammer 40K MMO - THQ: There's fighting talk today from THQ executive Jack Sorenson, who has told Eurogamer that he reckons Blizzard's all-conquering World of Warcraft has "peaked".

Speaking to Eurogamer at last week's Gamers Day bash in San Francisco, THQ's head of development was bullish about the prospects of the forthcoming Warhammer 40,000 MMO - the firm's first foray into the genre dominated by Blizzard's title, which currently has over 10 million subscribers.

PC - Warhammer 40K MMO - Actual WH40K MMO details here PC Gamer magazine (UK) has scooped first real details on THQ's Warhammer 40,000 MMO, shedding light on the game which was unveiled in March '07.

According to the info, the title's definitely an MMORPG as opposed to what could have been a Planetside-esque MMOFPS. But despite that it appears developer Vigil Games is aiming for a reasonably in-depth combat system, as it's orientated around cover, suppressive fire and flanking.

PC - Warhammer 40K MMO - Warhammer 40K MMO still years away, says Farrell VG247: According to paidContent interview, THQ boss Brian Farrell said at the company's Gamer's Day in San Francisco this week that Vigil Games' Warhammer 40K MMO is "probably still a couple of years out".

PC - Warhammer 40K MMO - THQ CEO Gives Warhammer 40,000 MMO Update During THQ's financial conference call with analysts, company execs gave a brief update on their plans for the Warhammer 40,000 MMO title. The game was announced last year as part of THQ's spring press event in March 2007 and today CEO Brian Farrell stated he saw a build of the game at their Austin based dev studio Vigil Games last November, claiming he was "pleasantly surprised" at the state of game and its progress, saying, "So far, so good." However he also stated that the game is still a ways away from completion, stating they wanted to take their time on the title.

PC - Warhammer 40K MMO - Warhammer 40K MMO confirmed THQ's to release a Warhammer 40K MMORPG at an unspecified date, the company's confirmed. The game is currently under development at THQ's wholly owned Austin-based outfit, Vigil Games. The title is a further extension of the company's grip over Games Workshop's number-crunching pen and paper RPG franchise, arriving after real success in the RTS field with Relic's Dawn of War series. THQ confirmed this morning that it has now signed a licensing deal for the 40K universe on all platforms lasting until 2013.
