• Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Dark Crusade (WMV, 5.9MB) - right-click to download

Thursday 4 May 2006
THQ and Relic have confirmed that work has started on the second expansion pack for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, and we have the very first footage.

Known as Dark Crusade, this update is set in the middle of the bitter battle for the remote planet of Kronus and once again pits commanders of Orc, Space Marine, Eldar, Imperial Guard and Chaos units against each other. But something ...
Dawn of War: if ever a game was built for expansion packs, it's this one. Relic's characterful Warhammer 40,000-inspired RTS (PCG 140, 90%) may have featured a generous four armies to play with, but there are plenty more in the 40K universe that would - and inevitably will - lend themselves wonderfully to the PC treatment.Enter Winter Assault. The well-trained eyes out there will immediately recognise the forces of the Imperial Guard in action: the very backbone of humanity's future fighting ...
was probably the most successful transfer from tabletop to desktop since Wes Cherry thought about making a Windows version of Solitaire for PC, although it was probably about . After numerous clumsy conversions of Games Workshop's world of Warhammer, Relic's realtime strategy game converted more gamers to the delights of Space Marines than a holy water cannon. So the announcement of an expansion pack, called Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War - Winter Assault, is as inevitable as the backfiring of ...
To date, nobody has made a great Warhammer 40,000 game. How's that? Just look at the embarrassment of riches the potential developer has at its fingertips. A vast and detailed backstory. Ready-made combat units. Army structures on a plate. That's half the job done already. And what delights have we previously been served up? Chaos Gate. Final Liberation. Rites of War. Fire Warrior. Up until now, the 40K-on-PC pedigree has been rather more Chum than Winalot. Yet everyone who knows 40K ...
It seems like every time we see this game of far-future, apocalyptic warfare in action, a new colour has been added to the palette of treats. That's why, this time, we thought we'd throw two of the game's most vibrant elements into sharp relief: super-units and battlefield tactics. Every tech-tree in every RTS has its high branches, and usually lurking at the top is a piece of uber kit so powerful that Donald Rumsfeld has sweaty dreams of owning it. Dawn of War is no exception. But the main ...
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is one of the most spectacular-looking realtime strategies we've seen for an age and, based on its showing at E3, it'll be as rewarding for normal folk as it will for full-on Warhammer spongs. The game allows you to control one of four races in either head-to-head or cooperative multiplayer action (for two to six players via LAN or the net), as well as offering an epic single-player campaign.
It's the cinematic combat that really impresses though - you've never ...
ACTIONWe're looking down on a war-torn cityscape. The camera swoops to ground level, where we see rubble-strewn streets and, looming above us, once-great gothic structures: part cathedral, part factory, all flying buttresses and imposing porticos. Their once-grand facades are inscribed with the visual narrative of war: bullet holes, plasma burns, shattered brickwork. We prowl along the road a little further, then launch skywards to view the tableau from above once more. A unit of blue-suited ...
THQ have released a batch of new shots of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, the realtime strategy based on the infamous Games Workshop fantasy epic.Set in Warhammer's archetypal dark, futuristic universe, the game's hardened forces collide with one goal in mind: the complete extermination of their opposition. Along with single player campaigns, multiplayer modes for two to six players support both head-to-head and cooperative action via LAN or the net.For the very latest Games Workshop news, you ...
