Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Is this really the first third generation MMO?

Sigil views travel as a part of the adventure and therefore strives to make the journey an exciting experience in its own right. Vanguard players can earn their own rideable creature by just level 10, far quicker than most other games. They've also attempted to make traveling by ships more exciting by allowing encounters at sea so you always need to be on your guard.

Focused on reinventing the genre through dynamic content and improved game mechanics, Vanguard hopes to inspire a feeling of "not your daddy's MMO." Also, developing the kind of community environment that made Everquest an unstoppable, life-stealing force of nature could lead to extraordinary succes. Whether or not Sigil can pull it off remains to be seen, but it would appear that it's on the right track.
