Massively: With no official panels or events planned for Vanguard fans at this year's Fan Faire, you might wonder whether Sony Online Entertainment has any plans for the future of the game. MMOHut, I have to admit, I have been spoiled by previous games like Everquest II and Vanguard that offer an astonishing amount of playable classes. EverQuest II has 24 classes while Vanguard has 15. It makes games that offer any less than five or six feel like I am being short changed. At the end of the day it isnt a huge deal, but it is definitely noticed...
Remember those rumors of a server merge for Vanguard back at the end of April? The game's Lead Developer made a forum post indicating that server merges were on the horizon, stating that the team was finalizing the process, and that official word would be out soon. Massively contacted SOE to clarify and were told that there were no plans on the horizon for server merges. That horizon seems to have changed, according to the emails that arrived in the inboxes of Vanguard players today.

On January 30, 2010, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes celebrates its third anniversary. 2009 brought the Winter Court story, a Valentine's Day celebration, a new Bridge of Destiny raid encounter, the Halls of the Pantheon, a level cap increase, a unique epic weapon for each class, two new flying mounts, new Veteran Rewards, the brand new Sparkles the Lost overland raid encounter and over a thousand new items, along with hundreds of new quests, bug fixes and improvements.
While the holidays are a time full of cheer and special events, things in Telon aren't looking as bright as usual. In a recent announcement to the Vanguard community, the team has decided to be as frank as possible and outline the road map for the game in the year ahead. Due to limited resources and a new focus on bug elimination over ambitious content releases, some of the game's anticipated updates are being shelved indefinitely.
