The CEO of Spark Unlimited, the developer behind upcoming FPS Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, has hit back at criticism from game reviewers, saying it is a high concept idea and isn't targeted at the core gamer. Speaking in an interview with VideoGamer.com at a preview event for Spark's new mythological FPS Legendary, CEO Craig Allen said the team did it's best to execute with the time and money we had.

Presenting explosive action in a unique and provocative World War II scenario, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, the alternate reality shooter from Spark Unlimited, is now shipping to U.S. retail stores nationwide; the title's UK launch will follow on March 14. Throwing gamers into a WWII like no other, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is set in an alternate 1953 where, following the fall of Europe, Nazi forces launch an invasion on the gateway to the United States. Opening with decimating attack on New York City, players take on the role of construction worker Dan Carson caught in the middle of the blitzkrieg.

Spark Unlimited's FPS Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is revealing itself afresh in four new screenshots.  For anyone not familiar with the game, it's set in an alternate reality 1950s and you're fighting Nazis that have invaded New York.An Xbox 360 Turning Point demo released recently was mauled by gamers, but the developer moved quickly to reassure that an awful lot of work has gone into the game since the demo was finalised.Courtesy of

As part of an in-depth Gamasutra interview, Spark Unlimited CEO Craig Allen has been discussing the message behind upcoming alternate-history WWII title Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty, suggesting the nation-conquering storyline has messages relevant to today. For our team, having spent a lot of time doing WWII games... Medal of Honor was really exploring what it means to be a hero in war. Call of Duty was exploring what is that kind of personal role that somebody plays as part of a team or a squad... Maybe there's honor, maybe there's glory, but you really want to get out alive with your buddies... survival. So with Turning Point, it was exploring what the personal choices a citizen makes due to engaged conflict and also having some fun with exploring alternate weaponries, find out where technology would have evolved with the Nazis if we hadn't interrupted their progress. How would the conflict dynamics have changed if America stayed isolated and didn't build a war machine?
