It could well turn out that Tomb Raider Underworld is the name Eidos will slap on Lara Croft's next adventure.
Reports indicate that the publisher has filed for trademark of the phrase 'Tomb Raider Underworld' with the Patent and Trademark Office.
'Underworld' has led to speculation that the new Tomb Raider game may find Croft mixing it up with seedy criminal elements, but it could of course just be a reference to the core of the sequel involving underground antics. Either way, ...

One of the best in-gags in gaming history is the "Lara Nude Cheat." For all the old Tomb Raider games, Core would leak a cheat that claimed to turn Lara naked. In reality, once you'd managed to pull off the complex moves, your only reward was to watch your heroine violently explode with a scream, her arms, legs and head flying off in different directions.

The Eidos executive thinks that the games industry needs more iconic characters to compete with movies, TV, and comics:
Industry veteran Ian Livingstone thinks that game developers need more character. The Eidos product acquisition director, speaking at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival 2007, told the audience that characters were extremely important not just in games, but also as intellectual properties that can then be used in other products.

The ESRB (the men in suits that give our games their ratings) has updated its website to include five entries for the recently released Tomb Raider: Anniversary on PS2 and PC (PSP version to follow soon).
Update: We have just received a "no comment" from Eidos. When contacted we got the "statement" before we even had chance to say "Hello Eidos, it's GamesRadar." Busy day for Eidos PR. Update out

Tomb Raider: Anniversary
The PC version of Tomb Raider: Anniversary is being made available through Valve's Steam, and can now be pre-ordered and pre-loaded for $29.95.
It'll be unlocked on June 5 for residents of North and South America.
Lara Croft's new videogame outing is the latest in a growing number of PC titles that Eidos is releasing through Steam. Previously such games as Just Cause, Battlestations: Midway, Deus Ex and Thief: Deadly Shadows have been made available on the service.

GameSpot is premiering the demo version of the game, and they have new details on what's in the demo, as well as what's planned for the final game, from executive producer Matthew Guzenda.
GameSpot: Let's talk about the demo. What level are you showcasing, and where was it taken from in the game? Can you give us some setup as to what's going on?
Matthew Guzenda: The demo starts at one of my personal favorite spots from the first game, which was the waterfall in the first level. This is about a third of the way through the first level, which is set in Peru. Lara's there searching for part of an ancient artifact called the Scion.

Tomb Raider creator Ian Livingstone revealed that Paramount Pictures are considering whether to make a follow-up to 2003's The Cradle Of Life which would have Angelina Jolie playing Lara Croft once again.
Livingstone who recently completed the latest game in the series, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, said that when Paramount see how successful the new game is it will show that the world is still interested in the franchise. That could be enough for the final go ahead to be given.
Considering the high percentage of bad game to movie conversions will gamers really be looking forward to seeing Lara Croft on the big screen once again?

Eidos has revealed the release date for Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary.

Eidos has confirmed that the PC and PS2 versions of Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be out across Europe on 1st June.
However, a date is yet to be set for the PSP game.
Eurogamer had recently been led to believe it would be out towards the end of May, but a one week slip seems too insignificant to throw coffee over people about.
