DP: Ubisoft's acclaimed tactical 1st person shooter, Rainbow Six, hasn't seen the light of day for a while, since Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. It seems like Ubisoft may be working on the title, despite silence from Ubi about the series for some time now.
A new Steam Weekend Deal has come and this time it's for the Ubisoft Hit Collection. This comes from the Steam Content Examiner at Examiner.com.
Ubisoft has revealed a special summer promotion in which some of their biggest titles have been slashed to only £4.99. Available immediately and until 18th July 2010, the promotion cuts the price of the PC versions of many notable franchises, with the highlights including Tom Clancys Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 at only £4.99, the recently released Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands at £19.99 and an Assassins Creed bundle including both Assassins Creed and Assassins Creed II for only £24.99.
With the Tom Clancy series expanding to five titles this year with the releases of Hawx and Endwar, Ubisoft has said that it is looking into the possibility of creating a Megagame within the franchise in order to potentially interweave storylines between each major series.
It seems that Ubisoft have used a no-cd crack for an official bug fix patch for Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, as the no-cd crack team's name was left in the code....
PC using Rainbow Six Vegas 2 owners who purchased the game via the Direct 2 Drive service were in for a mess of a time when Ubisoft issued their latest patch for the game, bringing the version number up to 1.03. Apparently while the patch would work fine for standard disc owning gamers, downloadable versions of the game were incompatible with the new patch which ended up causing owners of this version some undue stress. Talk was rife on the official Ubi forums, with users figuring out that an illegal No-CD crack created by the RELOADED group would in fact fix the problems that D2D version owners were facing. Of course, seeing as the crack was unofficial and illegal, users explaining this fix were issued warnings and the suggestions removed. Enter Ubi's own patch for the problem, which fixed the problem just as the illegal patch had. Some enquiring gamers took it upon themselves to dig deeper into the inner workings of the officially issued patch and were shocked to see what they had found. The official patch issued by Ubisoft was in fact the same patch stolen from the illegal cracking group RELOADED. (More at the site)
