The Witcher official site reports that Andrzej Sapkowski's "Blood of the Elves", translated into English by Danuta Stok, will be published by Gollancz publishing house in September.

"Blood of the Elves" is the first part of The Witcher Saga but the second book to be published in English. The first book that was published in English, "The Last Wish", is an anthology of short stories. "Blood of the Elves" is a full-length novel.

Following last week's announcement that The Witcher sales have surpassed 600,000 copies, developer CD Projekt today revealed the 'big surprise' we've been waiting for.

CD Projekt, have publicly said in multiple interviews that The Witcher would not be brought to consoles. It looks like that's all about to change as the company now has job openings for console programmers on its website. More specifically, the company is looking for programmers and producers familiar with the Xbox 360 hardware.

That's not what has people thinking the job is for The Witcher though. The job requires the Xbox 360 programmer to be skilled in "parallel programming". This basically means "porting" a program that's designed to work in one environment into a near identical product that can perform in a different environment (or architecture). This is on top of the fact that they posted the ad on The Witcher website.

"I'm sure you've already heard numerous complaints about the game's extensive load times. CD Projekt, the guys behind the game, are supposedly working to fix this, along with other issues. Polish fan site, insipidly named The Witcher's Biggest Unofficial Site, claims that the developers are going to release a demo for the game, in addition to the game's 1.2 patch. The info was gathered during an interview with CD Projekt held at Poznan' Game Arena. Here's the word:"

The 1.2 patch should be released somewhere around December the 7th
The demo should appear somewhere around December the 13th
The editor (called "Djinni") should be relased "somewhere around those dates"

'For Polish readers, Andrzej Sapkowski and his The Witcher epic, are household names. The game hardly needs promotion either here or in Russia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where Sapkowski is widely read. But in the West he has been little known. As part of the promotion campaign, a collection of Sapkowski's short stories about the witcher was translated into English. Signals on sales reaching the CD Projekt studio show the game is doing extremely well.

"For example is the second best-selling game in Germany. It is only a PC and it is able to compete with games selling on different platforms, like consoles and play stations. We are in the first ten or even five best selling games in Great Britain and in all countries in Europe and America.
