New footage from the game that has PC RPG fans quietly optimistic

Aug 31, 2007

The Witcher is one of 2007's more prominent PC RPGs and, with the game due out this September, the game's developer CD Projekt must be pretty close to adding the final spit and polish.

In the meantime, we can all gawp at a dark - literally - new gameplay trailer that's been released.

The Witcher's set in the fantasy world created by author Andrzej Sapkowski, a gritty, mature universe that treads gray moral ground where the lines between good and evil are blurred.

CD Projekt is aiming to deliver a role-playing game experience that marries action with a world where your decisions made in the game have major ramifications on the storyline - the developer's employing a dynamic whereby the consequences of your actions aren't revealed until several hours down the plotline.

It's a clever, ambitious idea that, if well-executed and prevalent enough in the game, could easily set it apart from its contemporaries.
