It may seem like a bizarre comparison, but the first game that came to mind while watching The Sims Medieval in action was Civilization V. Now before you burn me at the cross for such a bizarre comparison, bare with me. The biggest change-up in Medieval is clearly the setting, but the game has also adopted some more traditional gaming elements to help draw in gamers who’ve dismissed the franchise as more of a plaything than a traditional game. A few months ago I made the mistake of installing The Sims 3 on my computer. Before I knew it, my apartment was a mess, my dirty laundry and dishes were piling up, and my bills were being neglected. Meanwhile, my lesbian Sim’s life was in perfect order. Her house looked gorgeous. I remodeled her bathroom, paid all her bills, taught her how to play the guitar, and got very close to woo hoo-ing a co-worker. To say that the Sims is addictive is an understatement.
