GI.Biz writes: "Electronic Arts has promoted Rod Humble to executive vice president and head of The Sims Label at EA.

Under this role, Humble will be responsible for The Sims Label, while the former The Sims head Nancy Smith will manage special projects until she begins a new executive role at EA, yet to be announced.

"Like Nancy Smith before him, Rod Humble has demonstrated strong leadership in defining EA's The Sims brand as a stand-alone product label. International pop/rock phenom, Katy Perry, who is featured on The Sims 2 Apartment Life soundtrack with her new single "Hot N Cold," and The Sims today released the Simlish machinima music video for the song. Sung in the unique language of The Sims, Simlish, the video was made using all gameplay footage from The Sims 2 PC Games. This song is taken from her debut, RIAA gold-certified album 'One of the Boys'.

GamesIndustry.Biz writes: "Spore and Spore Galactic Edition have taken the top two spots of the US PC software sales chart for the week ended September 13, according to data provided by NPD.

EA Maxis' title knocked The Sims 2 Apartment Life down to third place, followed by Spore Creature Creator in fourth.

World of Warcraft: Battle Chest dropped down to number five, preceding The Sims 2 Double Deluxe at six, World of Warcraft at seven and World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade at eight.

Warcraft III Battle Chest secured a spot at ninth place and Crysis closed the chart off in tenth place."

GamesIndustry.biz reports that the US PC chart was once again dominated by releases from Blizzard and Electronic Arts as The Sims 2 Apartment Life expansion pack made it to the top of the list for the week ending August 30.

According to the latest data from NPD, the World of Warcraft: Battle Chest came in at second, with The Sims 2 Double Deluxe taking third place.

The original World of Warcraft title was fourth, with the Spore Creature Creator in fifth, followed by the only non Blizzard/EA title in the top ten - Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm from Greenwave was in at number six.

EA Games has officially announced Mansion & Garden Stuff Pack today, so the previous rumors has been confirmed. Mansion & Garden Stuff will most probably be the last stuff pack for The Sims 2 games.

What can you expect? Garden stuff such as new flower beds, shrubs, sunflowers or even new build mode tools in three new styles (Moroccan, Art Deco ans Second Empire).

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "The Sims 2 Double Deluxe was top of the US PC chart for the week ending August 2, according to the latest data from NPD.

That was followed by Nancy Drew: The Phantom of Venice and World of Warcraft: Battle Chest in second and third places.

Right now there are about a 1000 items to choose from with more than 100 of them released exclusively via The Store. Look for constant upgrades to The Store over the next several months. Timesonline reports: "The Sims - the best-selling computer game of all time and one of the first to experiment with the idea of virtual communities Â¿ may part with tradition and let players interact with one another using the web.

A senior executive at Electronic Arts (EA), the company which owns the Sims franchise, said that in light of the popularity of virtual worlds and other computer games which allow players to compete with each other via the web, the Sims may soon become a multi-player game.

Nancy Smith, head of the Sims Division at EA, said that the company, one of the world's largest game publishers, "would continue to invest in more and more robust community features" in the Sims. Two spin-offs from the franchise, including one called Sims on Stage, in which players compete against one another in singing and dancing contests, have incorporated online elements. "

Electronic Arts has announced The Sims 2 Double Deluxe and The Sims 2 Kitchen and Bath Interior Design Stuff, due for release on April 15th.

The Sims 2 Double Deluxe comes complete with The Sims 2 Nightlife Expansion Pack, The Sims 2 Celebration Stuff Pack and a bonus DVD, and is priced at $29.99. Whereas The Sims 2 Kitchen and Bath Interior Design Stuff allows gamers to 'unleash the interior designer within' and is priced at just $19.99.

Gamedaily reports:

Yesterday Gamedaily provided you with the top 10 PC games for 2007, according to NPD data. Today, however, The NPD Group informed Gamedaily that they actually made an error with their chart. Below you will find the amended Top 10 PC games.

So what's changed? The Sims 2 has jumped up to third place with many more units sold, while Call of Duty 4 drops from fourth to fifth. Also, The Sims 2 Bon Voyage Expansion Pack drops to tenth while the The Sims 2 Pets Expansion Pack is no longer in the top 10. Age of Empires III moves up from ninth to seventh and MS Flight Simulator X now makes an appearance in ninth. The problem appears to have stemmed from the exclusion of Deluxe and Gold versions on certain titles Â¿ you'll notice several more asterisks now.
