NowGamer: The man behind Funcom's The Secret World thinks that reality is the perfect backdrop for an MMO
The game's creative lead Ragnar Tørnquist spoke exclusively to games about the upcoming title and it's basis in reality. "We're giving it a twist, bu that was always the idea" he explained of the Abrahamic, Mayan, Buddhist, Nordic and Lovecraftian mythology that permeates the games story and visuals. "We have the real world setting, but we also have these elements of fantasy, of occult, of magic, and that had a lot of appeal."

The fourth annual MMO Calendar, which raises funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, is now on sale.
Developers of a wide range of Massively Multiplayer Online games have dedicated artwork from their games to the cause. This year, the list includes a mix of old and new games, some yet to come such as Funcom's The Secret World.
Anyone who purchases a calendar is also entered into a prize draw where they can win one of ten prizes for each game that features in the calendar.

The Secret World
Age Of Conan developer Funcom will reportedly cut 20 per cent of its workforce and delay the release of its new PC and Xbox 360 MMO, The Secret World, by several months.
The news was revealed in a stock exchange announcement on Tuesday, according to a Google translation of an E24 report. The site said that the Norwegian developer's stock fell 18 per cent following the announcement.
Founded in 1993, Funcom currently employs over 320 staff across its offices in Norway, the US, China, and Switzerland. It has developed over 20 titles but is perhaps best known for its MMO Age Of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, which shipped over 1.2 million copies to retail in 2008.

Secret World will be set in modern day times in the real world, and players will be able to roam the good planet Earth just like normal life – however all the myths and legends that we have heard of in real life will actually turn out to be true in the Secret World. This time it is the continuation of the trailer we brought you way back in April. I'm sure you've seen it by now. It is the one with the random hot chick drinking a milk shake, going into her apartment, and then being attacked by mister bondage face. Ring a bell? No? Then watch that video before this one.
Now that you are caught up to speed, here is the new clip. Not really a continuation, but it is an awesome look at one of the games other character types/factions. But also a cool looking creature and creepy terrain. Something that looks like a weird scarecrow, with blades for arms, and that can explode into crows. It looks as awesome as the way they made Scarecrow look in Batman Arkham Asylum."
