When EA Games decided to adapt The Godfather into a game in 2006, it was a controversial decision, in no small part because The Godfather was never an action movie. It was violent, sure, but not in a way that translates to coherent gameplay. EA worked around the problem by creating a new, parallel storyline that put players in the shoes of a previously unknown Corleone soldier, who worked offscreen to bring about key events in the movie.
