Enthusiastic StarCraft players harangued Community Manager Kevin Yu in the official forums after the Beta's rumoured start date of April 1 came and went without incident.

StarCraftWire.net has come across a printout of "Upcoming Games Releases in Singapore" for the next few months, and it shows StarCraft 2 to have a date set for a 1st quarter release in 2009.

Considering what we know so far, this is not an impossibility in fact, and the fact that several other titles are under "To Be Decided" (TBD) status of this Singapore-specific release schedule would imply that it's not the standard type of print, where retailers just set a date so they can add it to their systems.

SnagWire: Blizzard has released a patch for its decade old RTS hit StarCraft.

Patch 1.16 offers some optimizations: "[StarCraft] now only uses as much CPU as it needs to run smoothly." In-game chat (excluding whispers) is now saved in the replays. There's some bug fixes and the removal of several exploits including Terrans drop-anywhere nukes and some additional Zerg exploits as well.

The ticket drawings of 1500 tickets is now concluded, and the lucky people who were drawn can now buy up to two tickets each for BlizzCon (the mathematically gifted can count that 1500 x 2 = 3000 promised tickets). It's Monday, August 11th, and that means that BlizzCon tickets are on sale. Except, they're really not. Blizzard's new Blizzard Store site is epic fail broken -- all most people are seeing is the "error has occured" screen above.

Hopefully this isn't a preview of things to come. and hopefully Blizzard will figure out a fair way to get these tickets out (because right now, the site certainly isn't working). Expect more updates to this post as the process goes along.

Eric Brighteyes of Diabloii.net alerted all Blizzard fans that Xfire have posted details of their coverage of the upcoming WWI event to be held in Paris later this month. Not that startling in itself but they do mention:

Keith R.A. DeCandido informed the upcoming Starcraft Ghost: Nova Pocket Book sequel will tie-in with the Starcraft II plot. The novel will have elements from the postponed FPS console game, the way the canned Warcraft Adventures was novelized. A Starcraft Ghost: Academy Manga is also in the development, by Tokyopop.

Blizzard has just announced that they sold out all the tickets for the World Wide Invitational in Paris this year.

"All available tickets for the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational are now sold out! Surfer girl says that Starcraft was originally going to be a Star Wars title, but the Lucas camp rejected the idea. So Blizzard just had to rip off inspiration from some other source. She also mentions that the Digipen alumni at NST's are current working on a Wii action game that has many lasers and is shaping up to be better than Project H.A.M.M.E.R., fairly original too.

Former World Cyber Games (WCG) StarCraft: Brood War 2003 Korean champion Lee Yong Bum was nabbed for breaking into an advertising company and looted more than $18,000 of video equipment last year. Prior to this, Lee had stolen a handphone in his high school and robbed a rental van driver. WoW IncGamers got a sniff from Blizzard that they are going to hold another World Wide Invitational (like a mini-BlizzCon for the gamers and the games industry) in late June this year. Considering that StarCraft II was release during the WWI 2007 in Korea, one wonders what this one in France will give.
