Using only a tractor beam and an outlandish Scottish accent, we've managed to capture a wave of screenshots from Star Trek Legacy, the PC and Xbox 360 space-strategy game due this December, Cap'n. The game will drop you into the tight fitting velour uniform of a Star Fleet Admiral charged with clearing the 3D battlefields of Klingon, Romulan and Borg

Ubisoft has announced an agreement with Bethesda Softworks to publish all three Star Trek titles across Europe in December. Star Trek: Legacy for the Xbox 360 and PC places the player in the role of the Admiral of a task force of warships, featuring real-time combat and full damage modelling of authentic spaceships. The game's story spans the entire Star Trek universe and features captains from each of the Star Trek TV series. Star Trek: Tactical Assault for the PSP and Nintendo DS is based on the world of Star Trek: the Original Series and features a wide variety of authentic races, ships and weaponry. Finally there's Star Trek: Encounters, an arcade shoot 'em-up for the PlayStation 2, featuring ships, characters, and weapons from the 40-year history of Star Trek.

Associate producer Gary Conti fills us in on some of the gameplay to be found in this upcoming starship combat game. This year not only marks the Star Trek franchise's 40th anniversary, but it will also see the return of Trek gaming after an absence of several years. Star Trek: Legacy is the upcoming starship combat game from Bethesda and Mad Doc Software, and it will appropriately tie together all the various Star Trek television series. In Legacy, you'll not only command a Federation starship in battle, but you'll also lead a small task force in action. Legacy's story begins in the Archer era with the NX-01 seen in Enterprise. It then moves on to Kirk's era with the classic Enterprise, before ending in the Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager eras. The game is being developed for both the PC and the Xbox 360, and we caught up with Mad Doc associate producer Gary Conti, who gave Gamespot some more details.

After a messy legal scuffle between Trek licence holders Viacom and developer Activision, the rights to produce games from the entire history of Trek has passed to publisher Bethesda, just in time for the 40th anniversary of the TV series. As shown in these two screens, Star Trek: Legacy will drop gamers into
