Ahead of Activision's financial results next week, Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey has commended short-term revenue prospects, but commented that emerging competition for some of [Activision's] core franchises, including Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk, may prove damaging for the company's long-term growth. Hickey stated for the short-term company prospects, We expect key fiscal Q208 and 2H08 game sales will come from Spiderman 3, Shrek 3, Transformers, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, Call of Duty 4 and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. The Company's fiscal '08 game pipeline is exceedingly strong, and will likely generate record fiscal '08 operating performance.

As for all-new releases, the week is dominated by the media-synergy juggernaut known as Spider-Man 3. The game hits stores the same day as its film inspiration--which is reportedly the most expensive movie ever made--hits theaters. Like many summer blockbuster tie-ins, Activision is bringing the game to a bevy of platforms, including the PC, PS3, DS, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Game Boy Advance, and Wii.
We're now mere days away from Spider-Man 3's May 4 release and Activision is getting in some last-minute hype with this new in-game trailer featuring hand-goo acrobatics of both the black and red variety.

In our honest opinion, boss battles just can't get big enough - which is why this new footage from Spider-Man 3 has kept our eyes interested so long.

Activision announced today the launch of the official web site for Spider-Man 3 video game. The new web site offers the first teaser trailer of the video game. Spidey's Web is the hub of the Spider-Man 3 game community and will eventually feature news, exclusive assets, message boards, contests, developer blogs and more.
For millions of gamers, moviegoers and comic book fans, summertime symbolizes one thing - awesome trailers for movies we're not going to see for a year. As far as we're concerned, there's only one movie coming out in 2007, and it's Spider-Man 3, a film that's making the rounds ahead of Superman Returns right now. Or you can just view it here.
